Diseased Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I just like docker because I can use a single command to start or stop an obscenely thicc stack of bullshit that has multiple networks defined in the compose file.

Also if you're concerned about vulnerabilities of containers just use a vulnerability scanner on them and either implement compensating controls, roll your own container, or don't use it.

Since I'm such a fan of infrastructure as code maybe I should check out nixOS before it gets extra poz-loaded.

tracking of migrants by ML-trained drones running Haskell and NixOS
Lefties:
This License explicitly affirms your unlimited
permission to run the unmodified Program.
Also lefties when you run the Program to regocnize illegal migrants on border CCTV: "No, not like that!"

Expecting devs in CURRENT YEAR to know how to pass a few switches???
Except that statically linking glibc is almost impossible and heavily discouraged. Musl or uClibc on the other hand is perfect for that purpose, but most major distros use glibc.

This comes off rather autistic, but not altogether unreasonable, especially considering he's been doing this for so long, he probably just knows exactly what works for him and what doesn't.
Even if he just shows up and eats his own toejam they need him there more than he needs to be there.

NixOS has been dealing with a couple of woketards demanding the project stop accepting sponsorship from Anduril, and trying to oust the founder.

Previously mentioned here: https://kiwifarms.st/threads/open-source-software-community.38130/post-18226992

Here is a compilation of jannies jannying: https://github.com/nrdxp/rfc-evidence/blob/master/rfc_evidences_experiences.md (Archive) . Naturally a lot of the replies are pozzed: https://github.com/NixOS/rfcs/pull/175

I think it's a decent summary of what to expect if you let wokes into moderation positions.

It usually works ok, but glibc dlopens in some portions, so calling any function that refers to locales etc. will result in an exciting surprise at runtime if you try to run it without the relevant .so files available.
Wouldn't the dlopen (or function you try to use) just fail gracefully then? Assuming the programmer properly checks for those things.

Found Chimera Linux that I thought was a cool project until I checked their "Conduct" and Mastodon Page.
