In researching the history of Greek isopsephy/isophsephia (gematria) - the alphanumeric quality of a language - we are pointed to Pythagoras, the Pythagoreans, and Plato. There is an ancient Greek motto encoded by Plato: "God is ever a geometer" (ἀεὶ ὁ Θεὸς ὁ μέγας γεωμετρεῖ), whereas, counting the letters of the words (3,1,4,1,5,9) reveals the first six digits of pi 3.14159. This confirms that 'Step 1' of Greek gematria was/is simply counting the number of letters in a word/name/phrase with that number having connections and symbolic meaning(7), and that 'Step 2' is the alphanumeric sum of a word/name/phrase with that number having connect74ions and symbolic meaning. Hebrew, Arabic, and English gematrias also use these Steps 1 & 2, i.e. Liberty(7) Bell(4) and John(4) Hancock(7). July 4th = 7/4 and GOD(3)=7_4.
