Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

Ive been trying to force myself to play this shit again for months but I just can't. I pirated it when the pre release dropped and actually enjoyed the first few hours. Then I realized the UN whatever the fuck people planet you first go to is filled with side quests and little content to trick you into thinking all the other worlds have this. I still pushed through though till the retarded time traveling shit was revealed and I instantly closed the game.

Is there anything worth playing for? I did the space UN super soldier mission chain. I did the space sheriff one, and the one black guy companions missions because he was the only one I found bearable. I can not find a single reason to open the game again.

I honestly think the most fun I had with the game was just building ships.

But if you don't care about that, I dunno. I also console commanded all of the perks and money so I didn't have to work for it so it's not like it's something there out of the box.
I actually grinded my way to make a nice ass looking ship legitimately. I wanted top have a three floor ship and spent a few hours building it perfectly. Then I went inside and learned that the interior generation system decided that instead of having a single stair case in the center like I assumed it would do. I would instead have each room on floor 1 and three randomly connected with a series of incomprehensible random staircases to the second.

IIRC, there is some kind of logic to it to determine where attachment points go that you can manipulate to an extent. But it was still really goofy and fuck me if I remember it now.

It's something I think mods could theoretically fix, if Bethesda doesn't have enough sense to ever do it themselves.

You what I think the funniest thing about starfield is? They have done proc gen before and better. Daggerfall had mounts a better reputation system, random events such as plagues and wars, a good story that is unique to the elder scrolls series and dungeons that weren't copy and past. You could do so much in that game compared to this trash. Also you had ships. How can they make a much more complex game from 1990s with less money and resources then in the 2020s.

There's no logic, it's retarded. There's a mod fixing that: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/6601

There's no fix coming for Starfield. Todd did not even read Starfield reviews before starting pre-production in ES6. They never read reviews before starting the production of a new game. That's why everything that is awful about Fallout 4 is also awful in Starfield. They don't give a fuck.

This company does not even give bug fixes for remasters of 10 year old games, but they will remake a entire perk tree? No, they literally defended the perk tree in the steam reviews. They will not fix the game, because in their view, the game is perfect.
I think Todd is under the mistaken impression that we're laughing with him, not at him. Probably a coping mechanism he developed by being bullied in middle school for being a chess club dork.

That being said, it's not like Todd needs to change. Even now, there are so many Bethesdrones out there Todd could take a meaty after Easter shit right on their dining room table and and they'd all swear up and down that it smells like honey baked ham! MrMattyPlays would come out and say it's a near perfect turd, and anyone who says otherwise is being disrespectful, and fuckin' Oxhorn would do a 45 minute long lore video dissecting Todd's dietary habits!

There's no logic, it's retarded. There's a mod fixing that:
By logic I mean there's a way to figure out where and influence where doors/hatches will end up. But it's still fucked up because a lot of it is determined by HAB type and stuff.

Funny enough, this mod might actually get me to replay Starfield just to fuck with the ship building again. Funny because it appears to have been released right when I stopped playing.

I strongly agree with this. If it wanted to be Nasapunk it should have shitcanned the aliens and space magic and they should have learned some actual physics. Basically, make something like what a person might expect an Expanse-themed Fallout with Black Flag-like spacefaring in it.

Alternatively, make a full space opera world like Mass Effect did. Personally, I want to see more opera. Hard sci fi or Buck Rodgers level nonsense. The middle ground doesn't much interest me.

I think someone should make a game set in just the system of one big gas giant. Jupiter or Saturn. You have literally DOZENS of moons. If you want to set it far in the future and be indulgent, you could possibly have a few terraformed moons. It's one setting where you can have these different celestial bodies be close enough to travel between and not rely on FTL and such. Just Saturn alone has enough complexity to sustain an interesting world.
Intergalactic travel be damned, if we had a single system game (alla cowboy Bebop) that would have been amazing.

You don't need 10000 similar looking planets with the same debree scattered around; you could have the game be set in 100s of POIs on different planets.

Starfield Shattered Space is coming this fall, small update later this week

Todd Howard had a wide-ranging interview with Kinda Funny Games today and during it he announced that Starfield Shattered Space is coming this fall, as well as a smaller update for the title being announced later this week.

Greg Miller of Kinda Funny had a roughly 40-minute-long interview with Todd Howard, of Bethesda fame. During the interview, Todd stated that Starfield’s first expansion, Shattered Space, will be released in the Fall of 2024. Shattered Space is included for owners of the Starfield Deluxe Edition and is rumored to focus on the elusive House Va’ruun. Todd teased that a new update for the base game will be announced later in the week, stating it had updates for the game’s ship-building mechanics.
We gave Starfield a 9.7 back at launch stating:

“The Space Game” is how Todd Howard described Starfield. Bethesda Game Studio is one of the most successful developers in the industry. The Elder Scrolls and revamped Fallout series are beloved for their dedication to simulation. Starfield takes those core tenets, modernizes them, and expands the scope to span a galaxy. One filled with over a thousand planets, some of the best lighting I’ve ever seen, and a main storyline that is up there as one of my favorites of all time.

and finishing up with:

Starfield is a new beginning. Not only for Bethesda but for Xbox as a whole. With excellent writing, stunning graphics, and thrilling gameplay it makes the galaxy yours to explore, shape, and live in. It is a wonderous tapestry to experience your story in a way that only the best have done before.

The Creation Kit for Starfield, which will make modding the game easier on PC and possible on Xbox is yet to be announced. With new information finally starting to hit will you be looking to either get back into or continue playing Starfield as new content hits? Let us know in the comments below.

*Article updated to correct Gold Edition to Deluxe Edition

STARFEILD IS SAVED! ALL HAIL TOOD HOWARD.

LOL Todd can't even bring himself to say Starfield, he has to talk about it like you would a relative you're ashamed of. And if I bought the preorder, I'd be pretty pissed right now, because whenever I buy something, I want to wait a whole year before I play it. I guess that's what you get if you're stupid enough to preorder shit. When will gamers learn?

When will gamers learn?
GAY-mers are retarded consoomers who are incapable of anything but buying Madden, Fifa, and CoD every year. If they aren't playing the newest game then they feel inferior. Gaming consoles were a mistake and all streamers should be put in a gas chamber with air-tight metal doors.
