That Coyote Ugly bar seems to be part of an American chain, but in general no - we don't have people walking around as rootin' tootin' cowboys. We have weebs just like you.
What's shocking to me here is that he had every bar in London to pick from, and there are some excellent themed bars to choose from, or just normal bars. Why would you pick that one, it's tacky, serves drinks in plastic sippy cups and looks sticky?
I would assume it's because you could bosh a line of coke in there and noone would care, or even notice. Give what we know about Adams proclivities, he's probably got a cocaine problem - pretty common in the UK for people of his age.
This is fairly ironic given his lampooning of people going to Wetherspoons back in 2020.
Presuming this bar really is the subject of his “Bar Rescue” arc, it being a chain is exactly the reason it was chosen.
Becoming a franchisee in an existing chain is significantly easier, on rails, and foolproof than buying an existing unique location, running it and most of all competing against other venues in the area. Most chains when you become a franchisee they provide all the hard stuff, theming, floor plan, employee training, some even provide ready suppliers. You are given a handy book of standards and practices and so long as you follow them the business tends to run fine. You even get to cash in on the global recognisability of the brand name to help with that competition aspect.
London is one of the most competitive club and bar markets in the world. At all class levels at that, I have spent time in highly rated bars there with no cover, 10 pound cover and 40 pound cover and all had some quirk to make them unique in order to compete at their market level. (This was years ago so I don’t know what the price range is now, I’m just saying in a place like london there is a very distinct scale) This is to say you can’t even just buy a dive and expect to make money. At piccadilly you are mostly catering to american tourists, hence the american franchise. To buy and run an independent bar there would be a massive investment and serious challenge.
Despite me portraying this as training wheels one still needs to do the basics like, show up at work on time. Considering Norwoodson (3A) can’t even keep his promises or show up on time to do the thing which he seems to truly love, stream, I doubt he can do so every day for a small business.
Here’s an idea, why not combine this small business and streaming? Let’s be real if he really is getting a bar, regardless if it’s this one or not, people are gonna find it anyway, so might as well stream at the bar. We can get front row seats to a million £ explosion. I want chat to be able to vote on which immigrant waiter he fires next like it’s survivor, I want the “Who is giving out free drinks” arc. What’s more kino dogme 2007 than LIVE at the club? I want my “Bar rescue” arc…
