Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

That trashcan guy is wholesome autist. It makes me happy when i see these people. I think his father is in the waste industry and was giving him these mini trashcans from the trade shows, and thats how the kid found his little corner of the world to enjoy.

If you consider crocks to be modern wooden clogs they sort of make sense. Cheap shoes for the poor working class.
That sounds reasonable, but now you add the Brand and they are not cheap anymore.

Crocs are the most disgusting and stupid shoes in the world. I wore them once and let me tell you, these overpriced plastic foam flip flops are trash from day one they are made. They are not breathable, your feet stink and you can get blisters if you wear them too long. They are flip flops so they are loose on your feet and you will trip if you do not step carefully. Try running in them. Wearing them is tiresome, and they are bland as hell. And because they have that fixed strap on the back you cannot adjust them to fit your foot tight. If you want good breathable shoes buy sandals, whatever cheap shit with velcro strips you pick is guaranteed to be much better than that crap. If you fear you will hurt your toes there are sandals with covered toes too.

Whoever came up with the marketing scheme that these crappy plastic flip flops let you express your true self is an evil genius.
I remember thinking Crocs were retarded like 20 years ago and me and my friends filed them in the same category as Abercrombie and Fitch and their 200 dollar (in 2000s money no less) pre-ripped jeans you bought because of the Abercrombie logo. I'm genuinely surprised they still make them these days given they seemed like a total fad back then that would die out in a few years. Like you'd think they'd be some clothing item everyone laughs out now that says "00s" like bellbottoms say 70s.

Y2K shit is popular now, more than it ever even was in the 2000s. Kids are wearing a hybrid of early 00s nu-metal, with big, baggy clothes and chains and late 00s emo stuff without the skinny jeans. They're blending negro (FUBU, South Pole) brands with white (Jnco, Tripp) brands. Pretty much as long as it's baggy it's good to go.

And it looks like shit

it's the whole aesthetic bull shit. you know that thing that people think is their personalities, but it's really just them jumping from one thing to another to fill their empty lives with. honestly, this is a corporation wet dream. an aesthetic trend becomes popular, make short prints of an item and women will buy it. hell, junk from the 90/00s is selling for triple it price because of it.

Crocs are useful for old people as they are easy to put on and prevent slipping. Nurses also like them. They are supposed to be boating shoes.

Its like with Stanley cups, its an utilitarian item that makes sense in its context but the fad aspect turns it retarded.

I'll admit that I own a pair of crocs for a couple of years now and I haven't had any of the issues that you experienced. I mainly wear mine when I need to take the dogs out, put the garbage to the curb, yard work, and other tasks I need to do around the house. They held up pretty well for a plastic shoe and are still comfortable for wearing. They are ugly though, and I would not wear them when going out in public.

"Let me preface this by saying I like the idea of wearing Crocs..."

I stumbled upon this trash can collector today. In the newest videos he is proudly talking about his collection of mini trash bins.

i will never view collecting something highly autistically niche and hyperspecific like this in the same light as collecting some branded collectibles

no one is advertising this shit to them, its not popular or socially desirable to do, its a passion born out of something in this person's life that goes beyond being told to consume by media, and its a passion most people dont understand, which as i'm sure i've said before- is unlike most pop media consumers, who do so in order to be seen doing it

"adulting" it up because the child like nature of it doesn't suit you anymore is really stupid
I don't think it's inherently bad, but in the same way there's a difference between mini-bin guy and soybeard funko pop collectors, there are idiots that ruin it for everybody else by not understanding what they want.

An arcade where you can play games and socialise without kids bothering you sounds fun, but what aspect of a book fair do they want to recapture? Because on reflection, it was kind of scam. A day when one room of the school was dedicated to a travelling book shop and the kids were encouraged to buy things. How would it work without it being just another excuse to get drunk?

an enviornment without kids sounds like a good idea, but ask yourself, why is it something you want? is it because you want peace and quiet, or to engage in conversations that kids are too young to get? well that's the thing, you're not getting that with most of these people because their only idea of what makes something adult is the same idea that modern adult cartoon sitcom crearors have- booze, drugs and sex
they don't want a more mature expirience, they want the same expirience except everyone is on wine and weed instead of being hopped up on chocolate milk and pizie stix

If you're asking me, a good way to think of it is the cinema. I want to watch the film. Not deal with 6 year olds sprinting up and down throwing popcorn and maltesers everywhere, or teenagers scumbags who spend the film on their phone narrating the movie. I'm not even super autistic about it like some, but a little common sense would be nice.

This isn't even a unique idea. My local cinema used to have "seniors only" screenings of films, and I think the "family" screenings were intended for people with kids, but there's no equivalent for those between 18-65. No kind of "no phones, no kids, and no one coughing up a lung" screenings.

But like you say, the consoomers don't get this. It's like with Palworld. For years adult Pokemon fans have been demanding a darker, more grown up Pokemon game. When someone finally makes an unofficial one, it's a big hit, but then the Pokemon fanbase went mental, even mass reporting the game to Nintendo to try and get them sued. To go back to cinema, they'd want a adults screening to be just another place they can drink, smoke, and talk about sports, thereby defeating the thing I want which is to watch the film.

Wasn't the complaint against Palworld that it uses stolen assets and stolen art to generate their designs? Not so much that it's "dark"

It is also in diffirent genre from Pokemon, so it physically cannot be an improvement over anything.
Also they did not generate, they stole oldfashioned way.

iirc the complaint was that they used official art to pump it thru some kinda AI, and then basically used whatever the machine gave them as "ideas" for not-pokemon designs because AI is for the creatively handicapped
but there have also been artists who said they used their own personal art and fanart

Yeah, only Game Freak is allowed to recycle normal animals into supernatural companions.

Palworld is a parody, from everything I've seen.

Look, if you can't tell the difference between "What if we take uh uhhhhhhh uhhhhhhhhhhhh bird and turn it into a balloon lol" and "Nice design *yoink* mine now!" then I don't know what to tell you

Most of people I saw defending Palworld are like that. Perhaps they know nothing about art, or are blind and only see number go up.

From a quick google, ETBs are "Elite Trainer Boxes", which are for the Pokemon TCG. They come with booster packs, card sleeves, and tokens and such. They look to be $50-$60 each.

Again, most AI users and proponents alike don't understand art
These are the same people who think typing words into a box is the same process as painting a picture and is a skill you can 'improve'
They're also creatively challenged so to them taking something from nature and altering it is no different to looking at an image you didn't make and just.... taking it...
