Sweet Baby Inc. and the Steam Curator Group Conspiracy - The company that is responsible for the diarrheic video game writing.

Damn, I genuinely didn't expect to learn about economics when coming to this thread.
It's strange, but when it comes down to it, that's all this is. Money. Ideaology arguably isn't important to them. Some are true believers, but for most it's a grift.

SBI and other consultants are running a mafia esc protection racket. "That's a nice game you have there, it'd be a shame if someone were to call it problematic."

The clique is running a casting couch. "You want a loan/grant/award/exposure? Either you're in the bubble, or you better suck soydick."

And AAA is trying to score safe, easy money while expanding. Fin wasn't edited out of Chinese Star Wars films because Disney is some believer in progress.

Even translators supposedly have a money incentive since they get paid more money the more edits they have to make.

Maybe that's what the future for american gaming holds, that the industry will end up devolving to making janky, smaller, but more engaging video games... oh fuck, that's just Bethesda 15-20 years ago.
I think of it more like the crash of 83. While big name US brands are buried in landfills (goodwill and discount stores in the modern day) it was a boom period for "bedroom programmers" in England.

I have a feeling social justice 'tards are going to try and use the censorship push for Stellar Blade to force the lot of us to boycott it. I've already seen a couple of posts regarding that, and it boggles the mind at how quickly the "Hard R" thing is getting people on our (alleged) side quick to jump on the boycott bandwagon. The censorship regarding that is already backfiring. Don't fall for it. Don't give in to the need to jump to boycott. We NEED this game to succeed. We need to show them that this is what the audience wants and that their screeching means fuck all.
Sry mate, but we don't need a game where the devs caved in and delivered a censorship patch. We gotta be strict on these issue, all these exceptions and being nice because xyz is the reason we are in the mess that we are right now.

People are making too much hay about BlackRock etc.

The issue here is, as always, the colleges. It's cool to be liberal, pro-LGBTQMAP+, etc. You are therefore rewarded for following these orthodoxies. It's that simple. Basic reinforcement.

If there was a reward structure set up for being Super Straight, LGBTQ+ crap would be relegated to the closet where it belongs within two generations.
Not even the colleges, because if you go into economics field you're naturally inclined to become neoliberal (or a grifter) and STEM fields like engineering remain conservative, while also maintaining massive male-to-female workforce ratios. The only outlier is programming, I think it's the only STEM field that has a reputation of being intensely liberal or marxist and even that still deals with a reputation of being a male dominated field. I genuinely think there are more trans women in programming than cis ones.

Liberalism does indeed dominate humanitarian, medical and art fields though, which includes journalism, philosophy, writing... basically every field that has anything to do with communicating with the public and naturally they'll present their points as truthful by using the prestige of their academic background.

The reality is that academia has various different competing orthodoxies. Remember Javier Miles and how every neolib were slobbering over him coming into power? Well he was an economics professor for years before becoming president. And speaking from my experience Marxist and Liberal professors do not get along well at all, because liberal ones are heavily pro-multiculturalism while marxists are culturally color blind, not being able to tell a difference betwen islam and hinduism, because ALL cultural struggles are class struggles to them, which ocassionally leads to them saying even more bigoted things than people on the far-right. This had led to a few studies in my university developing a notorious reputation of having professors that do not like each other, making the grading process very inconsistent.

Marxists, Neoliberals, Liberals, Conservatives, etc. they all are competing on scrounging up the most young people to their cause to vote and protest in the name of their agenda. Sounds conspiratorial, but that's just how democracy works. Sorry for getting heavily political, but I figured that this was an important thing to establish, so people here don't end up following red herrings.

Here's the thing though, I decided to ignore both the PS5 and the Xbox Series. Since I am not planning to get a PS5, no Stellar Blade for me unless it comes out on PC. There would have to be 10 PS5 exclusives I want to make me consider buying a PS5, and Stellar Blade is just 1. I can't think of any other PS5 exclusive games I'd even want. Most PS5 games come to PC and I don't even want most of those. Hopefully Stellar Blade will come to PC eventually, but if it doesn't I'll just have to make due with some other game.

For what it's worth, I don't think there is really going to be a boycott of Stellar Blade over censorship. I think people who have a PS5 will buy it, and that it will be a successful game.

The Last Night
That actually came out? Last time I checked it was trapped in development hell including the classic folly of changing game engine.

I did find the trailer very enticing and like the prospect of a post scarcity dystopia. It's a topic I don't see tackled much at all with how damaging having no drive can be for a human.

Remember having conversations with lefty types at work convinced that in a post scarcity world everyone would develop their curiosities and passions instead of stagnating into pure apathy. Want to see a post scarcity world? Just look at the results of welfare.

To be fair, everyone with one of these will buy anything decent to justify the brick.

Wasn't that the anti-Anita Sarkeesian cyberpunk dystopia game that got cancelled?

The trailer looks absolute dogshit. So much so I don't even feel like archiving it. Let it be lost to time.
Future people, imagine an ugly metroidvania. There, you've seen the trailer.

It sucks in one way because you can tell the direction wanted to make this game in tribute to his father based on the short film he had released, but the SBI involvement, along with EA's shitty advertising, will doom this game regardless of how good it is.

For one, the consultancy company only came to be in 2018,
You suffer much I can tell by your Rayman pic and Ubisoft being some of the biggest faggots in the industry.
That said, Yes this company is a fairly new. These insects molt their shells and form new companies constantly. Not sure why, but my guess is they hide the money and what's going on easier by doing it.

The US Gaming Market is already like that. Palworld/Helldivers 2
Palworld was made by a Japanese studio, while Helldivers 2 was made by a Swedish one.

The issue here is, as always, the colleges. It's cool to be liberal, pro-LGBTQMAP+, etc. You are therefore rewarded for following these orthodoxies. It's that simple. Basic reinforcement.
Its all connected really. The intelligentsia and the oligarchs who run capital all went to the same schools and run in the same circles. They all are part of the same global elite. They captured the academy the same way they captured global finance.

I believe so, though I think it was Zoey the one that ruined it's chances. Just found it surprising how it was named in the same context as Palworld and Kingdom Come Deliverance when, last I checked, it was basically killed in the crib and made me wonder if something actually happened with it.

Looking at their site, they published an article about engine wank like 5 months ago

So the studio is alive and supposedly doing something, but looks like vaporware as far as I'm concerned.

It's been like this for years. The whole thing is weird. I guess some games do take a long time to come out.

Somewhere in the steam discussions was a guy stating that they expected it to be finished in 2-3 years from now. Biggest question is how they are even financing and how much actual work is being done.

Sounds very dead to me.

Dude, you have no idea... I grew up with Rayman AND Prince of Persia games...

Excluding Ubisoft, other formative games for me were Max Payne and Oni by bungie, the latter NEVER getting any sequels at all. I swear, the only favorite game from my formative years that has maintained any sort of sanctity was Vice City.

But eh, it could be worse... I could've grown up to be a Sonic fan... wegh!

It always fascinates me how people that use twitter and have creative writing as a job seem to be almost completely incapable of any sort of clever wit or roast, while kids from high school that are barely literate and are about to drop out can easily drop a burn that would turn one of their classmates into societal outcasts for years.

I'm not asking for much, if you're gonna be a cunt, at least be funny.
