Joe Biden like all sitting presidents facing reelection is required to submit a formal plan for the peaceful transition of power per the Presidential Transition Act (PTA) of 1963 in case his bid for reelection fails.

If he hasn't submitted one by primary season that's a pretty good indicator America's Rubicon moment has arrived and you and your family should plan accordingly.

TEL AVIV — Israel is greatly concerned that the International Criminal Court may issue arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and senior military officials as early as this week, an Israeli official told NBC News.

Israel is working through diplomatic channels to try to stop the warrants being issued, the official said Monday.

When asked about media reports of the arrest warrants, the ICC told NBC News that it “has an ongoing independent investigation in relation to the Situation in the State of Palestine" and that "we have no further comment to make at this stage."

The court launched an investigation three years ago into possible war crimes committed by both Israel and Palestinian militants going back to the Israel-Hamas war in 2014. It has given no public indication that arrest warrants are imminent, and it was not clear whether Israel was also expecting arrest warrants for any Hamas leaders.

The news comes as pressure mounts on Israel to halt its military offensive in Gaza, which officials in the Palestinian enclave say has killed more than 34,000 people since it was launched in the wake of the Hamas-led Oct. 7 terror attacks.

Netanyahu spoke with President Joe Biden last night, and Israel is now awaiting a response from Hamas on a new cease-fire proposal.

Karim Khan, who serves as chief prosecutor of the ICC, visited the region in December and said that his investigation was “moving forward at pace, with rigor, with determination and with an insistence that we act not on emotion but on solid evidence.”

Any warrants would not mean that Netanyahu will end up in jail.

Neither Israel nor the United States recognize the court's jurisdiction, though any warrants would put Israeli officials at risk of arrest in other countries, including much of Europe.

They would also serve as a high-profile statement on Israel's actions in Gaza, and an embarrassing development that would put Netanyahu alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin as a major leader to face such action from the ICC.

Netanyahu said Friday that Israel “will never accept any attempt by the ICC to undermine its inherent right of self-defense.”

“The threat to seize the soldiers and officials of the Middle East’s only democracy and the world’s only Jewish state is outrageous. We will not bow to it,” he said in a post on X.

In a sign of the country's concern, its Foreign Ministry said late Sunday that it had informed Israeli missions of “rumors” that warrants might be issued against senior Israeli officials.

Such a move, Foreign Minister Israel Katz said, would “provide a morale boost” to Hamas and other militant groups.

The ICC — based in The Hague, the Netherlands — can charge individuals with war crimes and other related charges. It is separate from the International Court of Justice, which considers cases between states and is currently investigating whether Israel has committed acts of genocide in Gaza.

Israel and the U.S. have dismissed the accusation.

What it looks like to me is that TPB are having a major schizophrenic episode right now. Half of their actions are exactly as you say and half of them are all about winning at all costs. They're entirely happy to keep throwing money and international relations into the bonfire that is Ukraine knowing full well it's all going to collapse but desperate that it happen after the election and not before and leave Trump with the hangover. Ditto Powell playing fast and loose with interest rates which is going to come home to roost in a big way very soon. You're absolutely right that they're setting up a bomb for Trump. Yet at the same time, they're entirely happy to pervert the justice system in the most blatant fashion to try and stop him running and as @The Ugly One says, all set up ready to "fortify" the election and ensure Biden wins. It's madness and I've seen this sort of thing before in large organisations and companies where different groups are taking wholly contradictory strategies. There's some kind of split in the halls of power which I would loosely characterise as realists vs. true believers.

At least this is how it seems to me. I could be wrong.

We slipped into a recession in early 2022.
We've been in a depression for at least the past year.

Combined ~50% job losses in tech and banking.
45% of small businesses destroyed
grocery bills up 50%.
The mortgage on your typical american house went from $1700/mo to $3100/mo.

Anything further is less "recession" and more "fucking collapse", and you don't want that happening at the beginning of Trump's term because by the end he will be a fucking hero.

Anecdotally, it's a huge problem in my area. I have commercial real estate brokers cold-calling me every couple of days to pitch properties to me. Not interested in expanding at the moment, but thanks for thinking of me.

The R/DNC don't give that much of a shit about Trump's policies or effect on the economy. They're scared shitless of him winning because it will signal weakness in terms of the grasp they have on power. Others like Trump will take notice. This is a large part of why they're going hard on the political persecution. They do not want other people getting any ideas. So they're sending a clear message that you will be fucked with if you try playing in their yard. If they steal 2024 expect dudes like Brandon Herrera to be raided by some glowniggers to solidify this message as well.

The RNC will be happy to be rid of Trump and will actively help Democrats in securing Biden’s re-election. Just a reminder that Rick Scott had to pay for his own legal bills to fight his seat from being stolen from him in 2018. The Gay Old Perverts weren’t going to lift a finger for him and he’s a uniparty guy who was going to get ratfucked out of a seat because they wanted the Republicans to lose the senate. Trump is on his own and anyone who is seen supporting him is going to get the alphabet agencies crawling up their asses the next four years. That’s going to leave behind swamp creatures who are going to backstab Trump instantly or dumbasses who have more balls than brains. Not to worry because the instant he gets sworn in, there’ll be subpoenas and impeachment proceedings kicked off. I find Trump’s victory extremely unlikely but in a snowball’s chance in hell that he gets elected, the revenge fantasies people have here are going to be dashed as he gets obstructed every step of the way.
