Yeah as a nurse being in the states for me would be stupid. The highest paying state is Cali (LOL) and then Texas but the additional costs in Texas would fuck me and I am relatively prepared. I'd recommend Australia, especially anywhere from Coffs Harbour south to Gippsland. The summers can be brutal, but the land is fertile, and houses are reasonably priced. If you have a regular suburban block (1/4 of an acre), you can grow a decent amount of vegetables and have some chickens.
There's a nurse shortage at the moment, so work is easy to find, and they are actually treated well.

We've printed a fucking assload of money over the last couple of decades and owning a duplex for rent income and buying a RV can't be accomplished with a six figure income starting with a 1, especially not in the urban hellholes these people are expected to live in.
If judicial salaries are surprising to you I almost don't even want to tell you what making partner at the worst law firm in the city is worth now.
