Already a shit thread. '96 never made sense for me, but Gen Z starting at '97 does.
Specifically, we witnessed the era of wi-fi begin and develop. I can't really remember the dial-up days (so I already cut myself from the "millennial" group despite the other similarities), but I do remember really old wi-fi cards you had to insert into your brick heavy laptop. Oh, and data getting bigger. I still have the first terabyte external drive I ever bought, alongside decades old USB drives, and floppies from my early childhood.
