the only thing left we need is Jarfa was the good guy.
butler was not bad in Aristocrats/Oliver & Company.
I guess they won't make a hunch back movie.
we need a colonizer movie for Alatanis/Pocahontas. (ignoring their second movies both)
personally I can't for 101 dalmatians really being the coat.

the franchise was the only thing keeping dreamworks afloat
what about dragons and kung fu panda?

I would say that mufasa is largely harmless in the grand scheme of things and what they really should be worried about is their animated section.

Wish is a bigger punching bag for the internet than Velma because I still see people talk about it to this day in videos and those vids get hundreds of thousands of likes.
Let's just be honest Disney has Pixar do almost all their animation for them these days. And when they do animated projects themselves they're not very good from what I've heard.

, only Madagascar had any real weight as a franchise
and even that was a fluke, the iconic song was literally just something Sasha Baron Cohen would sing over and over again inbetween takes like a goddamn autist, the cast is literally whomever they could get to agree because dreamworks was quickly losing its luster and reputation (the live action part of the company sold itself off because it was too much hassle for spielberg and geffen) and notice how most of the voice roles are dreamworks employees themselves.

you really think Will Smith's wife or david Schwimmer were getting a lot of job offers? to this day even with decades of inflation the highest grossing dreamworks films are the shreak films, followed by the madagascar films, followd by the kung fu panda films, and a lot of dogshit thereafter.

name me a single other movie company where their highest grossing film is 20+ years old.

Paramount, who ironically has Shrek 3 in their top 10 highest grossing list. Actually, the only movie from them in a decade to crack the top list is Maverick, which, granted, is at number 2. Everything else is 2011 or before, with the highest grossing being Titanic from 97.

They're doing my boy Mufasa dirty. Typical modernist mindset of trying to destroy nobility in the name of the proletariat. I know that's tin foil sounding, but honestly, isn't that the case? A great king and ruler, selfless to the point of death - so he's not allowed to be the descendant of a royal family, he's gotta be a self-made man!

... thereby justifying Scar's claim to the throne and rightfully wiping out Mufasa and Simba. Congrats, Disney. The only scene I liked was the lion peering from the sky, which is way closer to what we should've had in the 2019 version of Mufasa's ghost. Another sign of modernism, the relegating of a genuine spiritual manifestation to a pedestrian atmospheric event.

I have the sads.

The music for the first Lion King remake was so boring and bland compared to the originals. The animation was also boring AF cause real animals can't emote worth a damn. If anybody had any plans to actually try they could've at least stylised it or something, anything to set it apart from the original.

This prequel is gonna suck and is as unnecessary as Cruella was.

Also Lion King 2 is great. One of the best animated Disney sequels imo.

I just found out that a lot of the crew who work on the original Moana seem to be working on Mufasa.

As the resident Broadway and LMM enthusiast, I find it incredibly weird that Disney never bought his involvement with this film up during their investor meeting.

On top of that mufasa was never marketed as a musical up until the teaser from a couple of days ago.

Something isn't adding up, and it makes me think that he was added in at a much later date.

Even without all the above, what about mufasa (the most serious character in the original film) requires any sort of singing?

For those who don't know, mufasa actually had a song in the OG called " King of the wild" which was basically him explaining what it means to be king December but it was cut since the animators thought it didn't really fit who they wanted mufasa to be.

The problems about this film are multiplying and it's not even out yet

Are you telling me Disney is wasting millions of dollars fucking around with a movie close to its release date that will inevitably lose money? This has literally NEVER happened before!

Jokes aside, why do they keep doing that? Haven't they learned to stop fucking around with productions? They never recoup the extra money they throw at these movies.

Ah yes Mufasa aka Nepo Baby the film with the famous negro Beyonce flaunting around her ugly child of murderer Blue Ivy. It's OK Beyonce we know you hate being black too and most of us would. If I had to fall asleep wondering when Jay Z will kill me and only to wake up sad that Jay Z did not in fact kill me, I'd be sad too.

Damn they really have some shit out this year haven't they;
Inside troon 2 (they will fucking make Riley a tranny and you will like it)
Mufasa (please black people watch this film we miss Black Panther money)
Moana 2 - just why?!

That is it, they are so nervous about making a film now because they are petrified of the incurred costs.

The absolute state of Disney in 2024

They've learned there are no repercussions for doing it. They recoup the losses by shifting around the infinite park money. And they aren't in the movie-making business to make money, art, or entertainment any more.

Because for about a decade, the LA remakes were very profitable, and it was only recently that they stopped being so sadly.

Disney's all, "Hey, normies, these are the 'Grown-Up' versions of the classics you loved as a kid," because they know folks and the Academy can't stand animated flicks.

Nowadays, folks are starting to realize that animation lets you get away with stuff that would get major side-eye otherwise.

There's a reason musicals tend to flop in theaters while Disney's ( Minus Wish ofc) do really well.

iirc doesn't Sora show up occasionally too, although he's super-rare like Goliath from Gargoyles?
(Un)fortunetly he doesn’t, he was only seen sparingly around the time of COM’s release date to promote the game and… well…
Sora_DLP.JPG
Yeah, it’s not a good look for a human character. There’s also a popular theory that the Sora costume in the above spoiler wasn’t even made by Disney and it was actually contracted out to a third party, said theory has some credence when you check fanmade lists of meet-and-greet characters at the various Disney Theme Parks. As to why he’s holding the Keyblade like that it’s because of park rules, Holding it like an actual sword would violate the “no weapons” rule.
