The Detractor - Official DSP Video Game

It's a pretty fun game. Gameplay-wise it's a bit buggy and easily cheesable after you farm up some of the permanent upgrades but it's a nice concept that stays fun for an hour or two at least. The DSP jokes are very entertaining from start to finish, great use of voice clips everywhere and funny art. Worth the 5 bucks.

Sorry if it was mentioned before but do we know who made this? I really wanna buy it but only if its from an actual tractor, not from a dent fan.

Do we know this?

The game has a 100% positive rating on Steam. The topics in the community discussion are golden!

Does it matter? Phil is gonna sperg regardless and call it defamatory. I think your morals will be safe with this one.

It does, for me.

I don’t think any of the trolls you have moral qualms with had any hand in this given the amount of time and skill it took to make it. Even so, this is setting a high bar for internet shit-posting and I think that alone deserves your 5 dollars for this kind of harmless, quality trolling.

The effort alone is admirable.

Developers name is Alex. Doody interviewed him today. Guy sounds Russian.

Also as an update for everyone. Today is Phil's day off, so don't expect movement. But, Doody mentioned that he has his undercover guys whispering to Phil about it. Also, Phil is doing an indie games marathon at the end of the month and opened up a community post asking for recommendations, and it's getting spammed with people telling him to play The Detractor.

Thanks, I dont like to touch Doody but I might watch it.

DSP will never play it, probably not even mention it.

My honest reaction:

The game looks great, but then I read the word "roguelike" and immediately lost interest, why can't indie devs make anything new besides shitty STS and TBOI ripoffs? Why is the indie scene so creatively bankrupt?

Looking at the rest of the trailer it's also
>Punch Out
>Flappy Bird

Yep just play Punch Out and switch to Flappy Bird every now and then you'll get the same experience for free.

Feel ya.
It's "roguelike" because people like playing roguelikes. Except they don't actually, because the vast majority of "roguelikes" aren't even roguelikes. TBOI marketed itself as one because the idea was to make the least marketable game ever: a twin stick shooter / roguelike hybrid about religion. Every roguelike after that cut out most of what made TBOI half roguelike in the first place, basically the only thing it means anymore is permadeath and random loot.

My brother really likes punch out but doesn't care about lolcows and maybe a bit weirded out by them, it sounds like the game stands on its own but does it enough where a normie can enjoy?

Not really, there isn't any real depth or complexity to it, not enough to warrant spending 5 bucks anyway.

Can confirm. I was considering buying it, but it threw up an error message saying the game was unavailable right after I added it to my cart.

Did Phil and/or some random ween manage to get the game taken down?
