I think Mr. Burnell has a future in telling companies what NOT to do. Sort of like TIHYDPs, companies should just hire Burnell freelance to spitball them ideas on how to make their businesses better because of his degree and 15 years of experience as a business owner and the companies should do the exact opposite of what he suggests.
Agreed. Machinima wasn't wrong either, but it was based on what they told Phil... expand as a content creator, work with others (I agree with Phil that collabs suck tbh, but that's the game when you make your career social media). Phil never did beyond streaming all day and begging for money.
This is why I find Phil so fascinating. He refuses to change until the last moment and by then everyone else has moved on and he comes strutting in and goes “huhhhhh? Whuuuuut? Why is nobody here! This is what you wanted!”
That's what made his big "I don't let my viewers bemean me and push me around" rant from the other day so funny. They can, and probably do. If OIC tells him to play a game or something he doesn't like, he has to choose between doing it and total collapse.
Not really imho. He also held his reviews hostage over engagement way back in the day. He even made avideo and pointed his camera on the engagement screen and said "You want my reviews? Then I need this here"
It's jarring to just see pictures of him from back in the day, old school Phail and current ghoul Phail don't even look like they were ever the same person, it's so uncanny.
If it makes you feel any better I don't think he likes AAA games any more or less than indie games. He just plays them because he thinks that is what people will give him money for. He liked the Fallout TV show more than he's liked any video game he's ever played.
I understand that. But it just goes to show how little he understands about his actual job. He's so clueless about gaming (goes hand in hand with his rejection of PC), which yeah, isn't surprising if you hate your job. He's like the worst kind of colleague at work, the people who just float along, are totally incompetent, and have zero pride and passion for their profession.
You may have struck gold. A consultant who is brought in to give all the advice you shouldn't take, but he's never told that is why he is there. That's a gold mind Jerry.
