A gambler just asked me for advice on a game where the price of the game changes based on how much people have gained or lost on it.
I gave him advice that will in fact result in him losing less. But he will still lose, and I will win what he loses, because of how the game works.
I actually feel guilty. I shouldn't. He should have tried not being prey.
It's not direct, since the $10K I won on that game he would have still lost even if I hadn't, but I was definitely champing at the bit to get it. I even told him so. And conceivably he could go on a run and win it back. I won't complain if he does that. But he's lost at least $50K on this incredibly brutal game that I'm really good at, and odds are good I get about 95% of that.
And I feel guilty. I gave him advice that actually increased his odds. I also gave him advice this game is extremely dangerous and the way he plays, he will lose. Don't do this to yourself.
But if you do I'll profit from it.
