KeePassXC if you want a single multiplatform client (rather than juggling different implementations) and support for hardware keys (e.g. Yubikey), TOTP, and browser extensions out of the box https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/keepassxc-browser/
Old school KeePass can do all of the above but only with dodgy extensions
I just use the boring regular version, and keep a copy of the database file on my local server so all my home computers can easily get to it. To be honest, I didn't even know it had hardware key support, but I suppose that makes sense since I never tried the XC or other versions.

CalyxOS is also good if you have the right hardware for it.
I'm actually a big fan of both CalyxOS and GrapheneOS, and ran both of those for awhile. They're great if you want to run with a locked bootloader too.

Worth noting for anyone reading that GrapheneOS requires Google Pixels. CalyxOS requires Google Pixels, the Fairphone, the Moto G, and a few unsupported devices:

The only reason I don't daily drive them still is because I really want root access for Adaway (an adblocking tool that uses the system host file). I know Adaway does work on non-root, but that implementation uses a VPN feature, and I just don't like that.

In a relatively recent development, the MicroG guys have started to supply LineageOS builds with MicroG built-in. You get a system with spoofed signatures out of the box, MicroG can pretend to be your phone's Google Play Services "officially" and you get the full benefits of that without rooting your system or messing around with Magisk/Zygisk modules (helpful because they can't signature spoof on the latest Android versions.) Your own Google account is not needed for things like Google Cloud Messaging and push notifications to work.
Yeah I've daily driven the Micro-G integrated build of LineageOS before, and it works really well. Much easier than trying to install it manually yourself.

I will say though that if you don't run any software that requires GPlay services, then you really don't need this. Otherwise, yeah get MicroG. I don't, which is why I personally don't use those builds.

BraveNewPipe, a fork with Sponsorblock built-in that also supports heckin' problematic websites that devs of the original NewPipe have vetoed, i.e. Bitchute and Rumble.
This looks excellent, thanks for the recommendation fren.

the Moto G
@larossmann had a huge sperg about this on YouTube as it turns out Motorola did a bunch of anti-consumer bullshit with bootloader unlocking. Basically
  • 7 day cooldown until you can OEM unlock
  • Void all your warranty forever
  • Pinky swear promise you won't resell the device
Something for anyone interested in a Moto G phone for consider if they wish to use Calyx.

Yeah I wouldn't get one, but if ya already got one.

The easiest way is to get a Google Pixel on eBay, and the bootloader is unlocked with a few simple commands, no fuss, and you're off to the races.

I would love to try the Fairphone, but unfortunately they don't ship to my region, so my only option would be eBay resellers.

Don't use Proton mail, they were caught giving data to glowies a few moths ago.
This is such fucking disinfo.

1. You're using your mobile carrier from one of the worst countries Earth. If you're that schizo about privacy, maybe get a VPN. I actually checked to see if you were posting out of DC.
2. "a few months ago" is 3+ years ago.
3. They got a SUBPOENA. There is NO SERVICE on this planet which does not respond to a valid subpoena because if you don't you go to fucking priosn.

The information that the French were able to get from this court order that Switzerland honored was exactly what they tell you is unencrypted, while almost no other mail carrier actually encrypts mail at rest.

Like you're upset Proton responded to a Swiss court order for an IP address (as per Swiss law they must hold IP addresses for 6 months in conjunction with their mail service), but you don't use a VPN.

What's a funny caveat is that Swiss law has no such requirement for VPN services, and Proton offers a VPN with its mail service. So you can use a Proton VPN (no logs) to access Proton Mail (mandatory 6mo logs) and get around this.

My point is that you can use stuff like cockmail over tor and proton limits you to clear-web, even if cockmail gets subpoenaed they cant give any of your data because they dont have anything you didn't pay them and they don't have your ip.
It makes sense that they cooperate with subpoenas, they don't have a choice, thats why not linking yourself to your email in any way is the only safe way too use email

ESL Josh strikes again. ;)

But yeah, if you're really schizo about privacy, maybe don't use an inherently insecure communication protocol such as the e-mail that dates back to the 70's if you know that there are people after you. Know your threat model and what to use accordingly to it.

Is there like a Linux 3D printer controller software that has a web interface?

Android Firefox can now support all extensions out of the box that work on desktop. I'm not sure how widely known this is or how long this has been the case because top search results talk about using a Firefox Beta workaround to install things like Sponsorblock (and a year ago could only be done on Firefox Nightly), but I noticed this isn't necessary when I enabled the developer tools. Settings -> About Firefox -> tap the firefox logo 5 times and the option to "install add-on from file" will appear. So far I'm successfully running Sponsorblock, Bypass Paywalls Clean, and fx_cast in addition to the Mozilla "approved" extensions like ublock origin that worked previously.

been the case
This used to be the status quo. In the past you could install any extension that the developers had marked as being suitable for Firefox for Android in AMO. Whichever dickhead at Mozilla thought it was a good idea to reduce the catalog of available extensions from thousands to a mere dozen or so is an absolute utter clown who deserves to be buried in a shallow grave.

It seems they've returned to the old system though and no bullshit workarounds are needed? Unless this is to bypass the developer needing to check a box saying it works for Android? https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/202...cember-14-but-you-can-get-a-sneak-peek-today/

Personally I used to use the retarded AMO collection workaround so I'm glad these idiots finally walked it back after years of screeching https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/202...nsion-support-in-firefox-for-android-nightly/

I think it's a little of both? The "Add to Firefox" button will be grayed out on listed extensions not marked as compatible for Android and there's still a yellow box that tries to redirect you to the list of arbitrarily "compatible" extensions (bigger list than it was but missing a lot). And there's a link to download the .xpi file on the same page, you can easily add it or any .xpi file from anywhere if you want to but you have to known the big boy secret handshake to unlock the option. Not sure why they're rolling it out like this but it works fine.

Protip:
Download xpi on desktop, bring xpi to your android.
Use nightly and enable developer mode, install xpi. Marvel as the addon that was 'incompatible' works flawlessly.

Yeah but I'm saying you don't need to use Nightly anymore, you can now download and install "incompatible" xpi in the regular mobile browser. Sorry if I'm explaining poorly.

Are there any advantages of Librewolf over let's say Waterfox? I'm using the latter, mainly because it is more focused on privacy and its main dev interacts with the userbase on plebbit (had a few interactions with him, he'd respond to queries and help diagnose issues). All I've heard of Librewolf (and Palemoon coincidentally) is that their devs are drama queens and trannies.

I switched to LibreWolf on Desktop and FireFox on mobile. Brave was crashing fucking constantly and with FireFox's built-in uBlock the Brave adblocker isn't special anymore.
I am actually impressed how decent Firefox on mobile has become. Hell I switched to Firefox on desktop to and I honestly like it more then Brave. Think the latter is trying to do too much.
It's criminal how some sites require you to have a chrome-based browser.
