Sony hate thread

I really do think Steam has made more effort than any other platform that's stuck around so long to try to give what the customer wants. Why would the customer then want to add another inconvenient account to their list if crap they have to sign into? That right there is enough for us to know this was the correct path to take, and it worked.

All the other reasoning, "Sony is bad at protecting info" etc. that's all valid and whatnot, that's all just extra, unnecessary reasoning. "We don't want to" should be enough reason.

Exactly this. The product you paid for should work as-is with no other required steps to use it. In fact, in times past that's the sort of thing that'd be considered a bait-and-switch type fraud.

Nobody wants this, nobody asked for it. Internet fatigue is becoming a real thing all over the place, so whoever takes the initiative and starts rolling back all the IoT and cloud bullshit will make a lot of money. You could make a lot just selling a car without a dumbass touchscreen and computers everywhere.

I don't need a wifi connection while driving. I pray this is the beginning of a real, permanent shift and we discard a lot of this crap.

They publicly and fully reversed their decision you ragebaby.
Further, they're now scrapping similar plans for Ghosts of Tsushima
Are you expecting a seat on their board or something?
You don't immediately forgive egregious mistakes that shouldn't of been made in the first place just because someone says "I'm sorry", brainlet.

When you damage a relationship or fuck up a contract, saying "sorry" doesn't make the fuck up magically dissappear or rebuild the trust or goodwill you destroyed. You are liable for the damages done and it is up to you to actually fix the mistake over time, not the party you have caused discontent. There is a track record of behaviors like this and you're a fucking retard if you believe this small recourse is not being used as a smokescreen to put out the fire until Sony does it again. Until bullshit like this is no longer common practice, companies who play ball with this shit and its enforcers should not be treated with kids gloves.

You also seem to be forgetting the CM's and their fucking drama in this whole debacle, but I'm supposed to just say "aww shucks Arrowhead, come on in for a hug bud, all is forgiven"? You are fuckin' dumb, dude.

Nobody is calling for "forgiveness": you deal with a corporation like you do with a trained lion: with both eyes fucking open.

What has been going on with helldivers2 is a specific issue.
The stick was applied on the specific issue.
They have issued an official statement declaring they are relenting to customers on the issue.
The customer's feedback following this matters, which is restoration of positive standing on a specific title.
If corpos think they're fucked either way, they'll choose the greedier option. Providing an avenue to "unfucked" is mechanically important.

I imagine a big part of it is the lock-in of having bought a console and having an account. Sony can say "What are the plebs going to do? Let their $500 PS5 collect dust and give up their library of games?"

Whereas PC players don't have those sunk costs and can much more credibly tell Sony to fuck off.
It's only one game. They're actually far more likely to go under (or at least leave the hardware business) because of this market situation that's forcing them release all their games on PC in the first place.
The market share for PC & mobile gaming has increased a lot in the last decade and this is a big factor in how this subset of the entertainment industry is operated. When PC ports were generally unoptimized, buggy pieces of shit, console manufacturers didn't have to worry that much. This is no longer the case. Another factor would be the price/performance of PC hardware, you get a lot more bang for your buck and you can buy the components separately. Unless you like having to buy a whole package that you can't upgrade, maybe if you pay the same price (if you wait for a few years lmao), if not even more. Most titles are released on PC with its console counterparts on the same date now. Why do I need to buy a shitbox that is going to be obsolete in 2-3 years when I have hardware that can do the same things even better?

Nowadays, video games are in a rough spot, to put it lightly. Game-breaking bugs, performance issues and Day 1 MTX are the current "standard" on release (excluding indie/A/AA titles). Not to mention identity politics and other dumb shit shoved down your throat, and don't you fucking dare to speak up against it, chud. People are getting more wary and tired of it and there is less restraint on making their voices heard as consumers. That means, their wallet. Mass-refunds, the SBI group and other things (I'm disregarding the Stellar Blade "controversy" here, because it's so fucking retarded. Maybe people should sue instead of setting a gay petition up) are steps in the right direction.

Sony getting shat on this hard is great news. You have to be insanely retarded to even consider killing your cashcow just to get people signed up on your shitty service that is routinely breached by third actors. The stupid faggot who even came up with this shit should be "let go" (i.e. fired). This is rare news, but still a whitepill.
Fuck game journo scum, fuck consultant filth and fuck Sony. I'm glad I never bought anything from them for at least a decade. And will continue to do so.
Suffer.

It's probably been said before but everyone I knew was playing this game and trying to push it on me super hard. Didn't like the anti-cheat they used so I held off, they pulled this stunt and I'm only cemented in my decision not to play it. I'm glad they reversed their decision after huge backlash but sorry doesn't cut it anymore for me.

Sony was about to be sued by the EU into oblivion for their sales tactics and to be dragged in front of that governing body for the next god only amount of years and to then have every game from NOW till the time Sony 'wins' the lawsuit by settling to have their products be scrutinized ruthlessly.
This is the only reason that Sony went the way they went all because Lawyers got involved or were about to.

I hope everyone looking at this situation realizes that this means Sony never needed your accounts to be linked in the first place, they just wanted your information.

No game played for amusement should ever need your personal information. Protect yourselves.

And to think, it all started because sony asked to link a free to make account.

That's genuinely insane to think. How is OW2 that bad?
If I think about OW2 much I will fall into a depression hole, but short version-
Blizzard sold us Overwatch for $40 - $60 then changed a bunch of stuff in the the game, took away loot boxes that gave random cosmetics and put in a battle pass to try to get more cash from us, promised DLC content that nobody wanted in the first place then cancelled the DLC, which is what they were hiding all the other fuckery behind.

I hope she's fucking weeping right now.
The community manager is an actual tranny and he is still around. He is now trying to spin this whole situation as if it was his idea all along to force Sony to surrender for the sake of community (lol).

Friendly reminder that companies don't kill consumer negative policies, they just retry it again when it's safe to do so. Mark my words, if helldiver 3 comes out it will require a psn account at the start.
They’ll just make it easier to get an account/not require you to own a PlayStation for said account and gaymers will have learned nothing and still eat it up.
