Sony hate thread

That's what the most retarded part about it is. These fucking idiots act like taking 5 minutes to make an account they don't have to pay for is so tragic for them they just give up there games.
It's just pure fucking laziness.

Yum, yum, yum. That boot sure do taste good. MMMMMM. I love me the taste of Sony. Give me more Commiefornia dick.

Out of curiosity, what action do you think Arrowhead could take to rectify the situation? If the answer is anything between 'nothing' and 'fucking off' then that's just cancel culture. Faggots are the only ones who are into that.

They should get rid of the CM and mods who caused drama and/or hid their accounts like bitches. If they keep them around, they didn't learn a damn thing.
The CM's and mods need to be shot into the sun. Their unprofessional bullshit has no place in any field of work, much less community management. If Arrowhead can't fix that, which is well within their power, then anytime they say anything about how much they "care" about their players is a blatant lie. You don't let worthless faggots like those continue to talk down to and denigrate your customer base for being rightfully pissed, much less in a firestorm like this one.

I fully get the fine line between "cancel culture" and actual accountability, but the actions taken thus far are purely performative and I genuinely would not be surprised to see either side (Sony or Arrowhead) pull some similar fucking bullshit again in 6 months time when they won't excise an actual cancer dangling from their asshole (the CM's and Mods). In damn near any other business, treating the customer base like these cunts have would get your ass fired on the spot and maybe even blacklisted from the field, but in gaming were just supposed to tolerate it?

I don't feel I'm making an unreasonable demand and I don't want anyone else fired/homeless/dead beyond that particular group. This level of blatant hostility and contempt toward the player base who pays their fucking bills is beyond unacceptable.

If they have no competition in the market than they are by virtue of being the only one.

He is trying to tell you that the Steam Deck is an instant challenger to Switch, it runs a huge chunk of the PC back-catalog for a new audience and the games are already there. Nintendo should be worried, it runs a lot of AAA titles, podcast games, deck builders, management games, map painting games and pixel art rogue-lites... Stuff that plays well on the couch. Hell I'm pretty sure Stardew is better than the Nintendo game that inspired it.... and while some of these games make it to Switch, it's usually late and at a much higher price point. The deck is a very good pussy whipped redditor platform. That being said it doesn't really have a niche for me, I don't travel enough, the wife is too busy to tie me to the couch and I just stay up late on the big rig.

And that's what these console makers and developers seem to have forgotten. They've been in a graphical arms-race for decades now, at the expense of basic fundamentals, when the average gamer really doesn't care thet much. Nobody cares that your PS5+- or Xbox720X3One! can render photorealistic 5 o'clock shadows at 150 yards away from the troon hero of the latest AAA shovelware title. They just want a fun, entertaining game to play and escape reality for a while. That's why Nintendo is succeeding where the others are failing. Gimmicks like the WII shovelware titles and accessories, or VirtualBoy aside, they've always focused more on the fun factor compared to anything else, and they've been successful for decades because of it. Sure there was a time in the 90"s-2000's where they were getting their lunch ate by SEGA and Sony, but they kept on their same path for the most part. Yeah, they might get criticized for releasing a zillion different Mario or Zelda games for each successive console, but you know why they do it? Because they fucking sell, and they're, for the most part pretty good. It really is that simple.

It depends on the genre and what you are after. Some stuff like racing or competitive FPS you want the framerate edge for the polling rate/smoothness. For VR you need to run two pictures at 1440+ and you need every shred of power you can get. If you have serious silicon running ray tracing in Hogwarts is beautiful. Running at high resolutions for widescreen or 4K is expensive... In general I agree with you, the consumer is going to have just as much fun with a low poly world full of great content/gameplay/story/immersion. See the fact that WoW still exists or a game like Valhiem, full of dithered textures and basic models, it's only 1.03G on disk, get's by on shaders/lighting alone and I have an embarrassing number of hours in that game.

When buying a machine though, on the hardware side I want one that is going to run smooth for years to come and that can play everything with enough headroom for my monitor, etc. So yeah I overbuy specs, I just do. If you tell me the fish need a 1 liter per minute filter I'm going to buy a 1.5, If I need a 750w PSU I'm buying a 1000w, if I need a 50w amp I might just buy the 100w so I can have some headroom/not be running at peak load all the time. One time I bought an underpowered Honda lawn mower and it kept choking out if I let the lawn get a little long (which I do cause I'm on a video game board). I replaced that mother fucker with the highest displacement B&S mower they sold before going under, minced those high spots to bits...

So yeah the performance wars are stupid and not stupid at the same time.

It unfortunately seems to have become the rule rather than the exception when it comes to games. The kind of people who are drawn to these positions are exactly the kind of people you don't want to have representing your company, but game studios seem to just keep filling their ranks with the most unprofessional and outright inflammatory people possible. I've actually come to pine for the days where the most response you would get is just a letterhead of corporate apologia, the "We're very sorry this has occurred," rather than the modern response of "Get blocked, chud!"

Well I'll be damned; didn't think Sony would actually listen.
Don’t get it mixed up, they don’t give a shit about the bitching, what got them to backtrack is the utter retardation of selling the game in regions that it cannot be legitimately played in due to PSN not being available everywhere. Literally they had 3 options:

1) Rush out PSN to every country that Helldivers II is being sold in before the June 6 deadline (this is basically impossible from a technical perspective)

2) Go ahead with the PSN authentication and be forced to refund the game to anyone who bought it in the 150+ countries where it was already delisted from Steam (this is unacceptable because it would lose them too much money they simply cannot afford to lose)

3) Walk back the obviously arbitrary “requirement” for, at the very least, the markets without access to PSN

Sony didn’t choose #3 out of the kindness of their hearts, they did it because their bean counters and legal team most likely threw a massive shitfit the moment they learned more about this retardation. I bet in the future they will have 100% mandatory integration and simply not sell games in markets with no PSN.

The downside of this is that computer power gets cheaper at a fairly steady, predictable rate. The lawnmower or amplifier you buy in ten years will do effectively the same thing as one bought today, but every dollar not overspent on computer hardware has a compounding effect in the future.

The screaming GPU you buy today is (barring black swan events like COVID) as expensive as that much computing power will ever cost.

I believe a big part of the backlash is that certain regions are locked from creating a PSN account on PC, and they still sold the game to those regions knowing there would be this PSN update. I believe Helldivers 2 is now region-locked on Steam to avoid new users from these locked regions purchasing the game. I've heard something like 25-30% of the community on PC was region locked but I don't remember where I heard these numbers and it could easily be much lower or higher.

I think Sony execs should be dragged into the street and decapitated for selling products in countries while fully aware that they would be unusable in a couple months. You couldn't ask for a better example of pure greed and spite.
Sony executives despise cyber bullying, but want their corporate bee workers to do the work for them. Meanwhile, they don’t realize that their user fanbase can absolutely leave them before Sony throws them into the trash while struggling to not go bankrupt.

The customer, in this case, is always right.

Pretty sad to be a Sony fan if you weren't even around for the Playstation 2, which had, in my opinion, the best console game library of all time. It was certainly the high water mark for the company, and a gold standard that each successive console has fallen further and further short of. By comparison the PS5 is a paperweight.
The Sony Ponies don't want to admit that they're never getting another PS2.

Agreed. That Katherine CM claimed that helldivers is woke because the staff is pozzed, but as far as I know that's just her saying that. If she was actually telling the truth then I doubt she'll go anywhere but she could have just been talking out of her ass. Even if she had nothing to do with any of this, her account went into (and is still in) protected mode and that's basically refusing to do the job as a CM isn't it? Someone like that needs to be made an example of and let go, even if it's just for insubordination.

I wonder if Valve will change course on allowing third party client requirements. Probably not.

I don't think that they are going to outlaw 3rd party launchers, I would bet that they do start leaning on publishers like they did back when they rolled out Steamworks. Something like:
Hey, you don't need to skip having your own launcher/client, but here's a ton of customer and sales data that all supports that idea that you should just use the Steam SDK/API/etc.
Oh, btw? If your cute little 3rd party client shenanigans were to cause customer service problems for Valve, like say, a 10,000% increase in CS tickets submitted demanding refunds? We're gonna be granting those by default and taking the balance out of your monthly earnings until we're settled up. Your call.

I hope that people continue to refund the title. They walked things back this time.
I do find the wording interesting. When EA got slapped by Europe, they agreed to roll back children's chewable gamblor... temporarily.

One thing I find interesting is how hard they shit their pants. The game always required the unwanted PlayStation account, but they held the fence wire down and let people into the game without it. That was the fuckup.

Big ups to Valve for allowing refunds for this. Their service agents are lousy arabs, and love to argue semantics, the fact that they don't just point at the sign and deny the refund means someone from Bellevue told them to shut up for once.

I wonder if Valve will change course on allowing third party client requirements. Probably not.
Kek. Valve gets like 3 trillion dollars from steam they aren't doing it

You would imagine that the meme of “California Compliant Videogames” would exist after how California basically forces companies to let the rot in. Sony under Jim Ryan basically was as hostile as they could be to Japanese studios and niche JRPGs (basically demanding localizers from a specific company).

If you have any interest in firearms then it’d literally be editing memes to be about videogames rather than guns.
