It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

I ain't afraid of no rolly coaster!

Incidentally, the ridiculous phrase "injuries incompatible with living" means basically being a splat cat, i.e. decapitation, being cut in half, being a thin red mist, shit like that. It's a pretty long way of saying obviously dead.

Yeah, it's likely that they were torn to pieces.

If that's actually an accurate representation of the thing, it doesn't look like a belt. It looks like a meat grinder. Don't most of these things have an actual solid belt, i.e. something you couldn't fall through and get trapped under if you happened to end up outside the carriage?

(From the picture in the article yes, that is an accurate representation of the ride.)

Oh well, I guess that's up to the wrongful death lawyers who are converging on the scene like locusts as we speak.

It's going to be multiple insurance companies arguing with each other about who is most liable.

The ride is 30 years old so the original designers/manufacturers may not even be in business any more. I'm also curious about whether it was exempt from any current safety standards because of its age.

The ride apparently passed its annual safety inspection a few days ago. Oops.

Many rides have that kind of conveyor.

The Gold Coast has multiple theme parks close together. I suspect the other theme park operators are quietly calling in engineers today.

Our PM is over-reaching. There will be inquiries, but they should properly be conducted by the Queensland government and the Queensland, NSW and ACT coroners.

This will probably sink Dreamworld. Our theme parks struggle to stay afloat financially. 6 kids are going to end up with significant trust funds out of this (the 2 kids who were thrown from the ride and survived and the children of those killed).

The enlarged helicopter photos of the scene make it extremely clear that some of the bodies were in pieces.

That's because they are ridiculously expensive. I mean, everything in Australia is expensive when you're from America, but theme parks take the cake. It sucks that this happened to dreamworld though, it's much better than the Warner bros bunch.

Theme parks have always struggled in Australia. They're always being rescued from the brink of bankruptcy and sold to new operators. Very few people pay full admission prices. Most people buy season passes (if they live close), multi-park passes, or other discounted tickets (or accommodation deals which include theme park entry).

But yeah, a day out to a theme park with the family is going to set you back several hundred dollars even if you don't buy any crappy merchandise - which of course means that few people are regular visitors.

I always preferred Movieworld to Dreamworld, but horses for courses.

This is going to end up another Diane Gribble situation where a whole industry ends up under the coroner's scrutiny.

http://metro.co.uk/2016/10/25/parrot-reveals-husbands-affair-with-housemaid-6214961/

A man almost ended up going to jail after a family pet exposed his affair with the housemaid.

The alleged affair came to light after the parrot started to repeat flirty phrases in front of his wife, who hadn’t heard anything like this for some time.

She had wondered for a while about her husband’s relationship with their maid at their home in Kuwait, according to Al Shahed Daily.

So when the bird started to parrot what it had overheard, she seized on it as evidence and went to police.
