Had a professor that opted out of doing effects for Colors of the Wind to work on Be Prepared+the elephant graveyard, and the final fight. For all the posturing on how Pocahontas was going to be the bigger success by Disney in old promo materials, internally a lot of the animators seemed to know it was kind o a weird movie and when given the option would switch off of it. It's beautiful visually, yeah, but who was it for?
Katzenberg was the main driving force for Pocahontas as he wanted another Emmy nomination. Because of this, animators on Pocahontas had to deal with him, whereas he mostly seemed to ignore Lion King. As such, Lion King was allowed a much higher amount of freedom compared to the other 90s Disney productions. I would imagine this is why animators felt differently on the projects more than anything.

Literally nobody liked the race-swapped Little Mermaid....so of course they're doubling down. "The beatings will continue until morale improves".
The animation is so shit. It doesn’t look remotely like she’s swimming in water, but just floating around in empty space. There’s no sense of turbulence or aquatic locomotion.

This is awful. The 1989 Little Mermaid film had much, much better underwater animation than this.

I'm sad no one did the update but,

Its not too surprising - the streaming war is retarded because the market for streaming services has enough room for maybe 3 services (ex. Netflix, Disney, and one for Weeb Containment), but because everyone scrambled to get some of the money Netflix was making, its just fucked the whole thing.

I just find it hilarious how we've circled back to paying basically the same price as cable, depending on how much you need to consoom

Oh boy, can’t wait to see them do a rehash of the first Incredibles AGAIN! God, Incredibles 2 was so disappointing, especially after sitting through the main cast and director talk before the movie about how it took so long to make a sequel ‘cuz they wanted it to be the best it could be. So much for that…
There are so many interesting directions they could've taken the Incredibles sequel, and yet they chose the laziest option imaginable. Couldn't even give us a cool villain like the first film, they just had to have a shitty twist villain that all these modern animated films are obligated to include.

And the thing is that the old system was more financially stable, as Netflix was only streaming other people's back catalogue so everyone made more monety

I actually liked the idea of the Screenslaver, it was a good gimmick with a creepy costume and mask, but they just tossed it aside for such a dumbass twist...

At this point the idea of these movies existing is more humorous than anything else. What could they possibly wring out of these worlds and characters that wasn't already explored by the first two? In fact I am more excited for these than Disney/Pixar's original concepts these days, since I know those are going to be mediocre diversity slop. I have no idea what Nemo 3 would be about!

Especially Incredibles 3! They already did the whole "girl boss rips down original protagonist because that's easier than writing a good female lead"™, in what new ways will they debauch these beloved characters? What inane bullshit will they introduce? How low can they possibly go?! It's already been dug into the ground with Incredibles 2! Surely they can't go lower? But they can! AND THEY WILL!

also because I can enjoy the originals even if the sequels suck :)
