Ethan was absolutely basking in his Tony Soprano fantasy--relishing it but pretending to grudgingly arbitrate a disagreement between his underlings. It is crystal clear that Ethan knew with Kyle and knew with Dale that Mandy is a whore, all his claims of ignorance or being above it or beyond it were proven false. The biggest tenant I remember was Rosa Malin's famous "Grab an Oar" rant about building your own audience instead of asking him and EVS to mention other creator's campaigns to boost visibility. The events taking place during the spectacular collapse of CG is likely bringing folks to the Farms for the first time to find information that the hashtag and it's benefactors have deemed verboden. It's difficult to have a conversation about these happenings without some fiercly defiant Gen X'er bellyflopping into the conversation to white knight for for the upper end of CG. The Farms is pretty much the singular place to have any coherent conversation about this stuff; as well as the only place that keeps a "as it happened" record of CG's events. You're probably seeing people who are new to CG also coming here after finding this place through a 3rd party.

I doubt that he will be downsizing. He gets a check from WB for Iron Heights Prison because James Gunn cannot dream up another prison name to save his fucking life. Similarly, the Green Lantern run that he drew continues to be rereleased with a large pricetag attached, which pays him royalties again.

If you count his money the way he counts Eric's, Nerdrotic's, Az's, etc.---If you tally up the Trashcast earnings, he stands to make a more consistent revenue stream off of drama farming. He's made no less than $700 per Trashcast since he started them. This is why he doesn't care about making videos, or the refunds. In fact, he bragged to Smiller that he made $23,000 on selling Reignbro Brute to the same audience that tuned into for the first Dillard Draws struggle secession. He made over $2000 on that stream in superchats by telling everyone that Dillard lives in squalor thanks to YF. However, not a dime of that superchat money (nor any since) has found it's way to Dillard or his family. Countless others took up the "Dillard is dying because YellowFlush is mean and stuff!" flag but Mr Dillard reports no tidal wave of monetary, or vocal support. My guess is, "I was told to hate your boss, not like you..." is their thinking.

What gave away Ethan's thinking on the matter of making comics was his commentary on Eric self funding the first three Rippaverse books. ISOM #1, #2, and Alphacore were all preproduced before Eric went to market with them. Alphacore was nearly finished when ISOM #2 was completing it's funding campaign. Eric said he put around $200,000.00 of his own money into these books. Ethan's response to that information was "Nobody sane does that. If you have $200,000.00 you don't make comics with that. Normal people buy houses with that money." The was the give away to me that this wasn't about books, the medium, the Kings, or storytelling in and of itself... It's all about the status. Eric puts his money into his fictional universe, not concerts, gambling, racecars, one-off costumes, and trips to gets autographs from has been celebrities. Where their priorities are became blindingly clear to me in that moment.
