Charlies photos actually aren't that bad for an amateur photographer. But seeing that this is not a hobby but what he does all day, between feeding his wife nutella and misstreating his child, it's shit.
EDIT Actually Tori seems to be a prime candidate for foster-care. Ive worked with kids from homes like jers and some dieting and structure would do her good.

The psychological rule of thumb is that you need to nip chronic issues by adolescence, lest ye be doomed.

Like I said above, adolescence/ puberty is when things start to concrete. Things can always chance, but for serious issues there's not much hope if there hasn't been a very strong attempt (by an actual, knowledgeable, helpful clinician).
Powerleveling but related story; I know of this girl who's about 12 now. She was unwanted, her mother drank through the whole pregnancy and she was shuffled between relatives her entire life. She wasn't hated or mistreated and there was no abuse, but no one really wanted to be the de facto guardian. Not helping with the fact her father was only around when it was convenient for him and her mother is bona fide mentally ill and now out of the picture completely. The girl in this story is damaged, probably beyond repair. She's sneaky, rude, doesn't bond with others, doesn't have the social skills of a tween and is, quite frankly, draining to be around. Why? Because she never got help. There was an attempt made, but it was made far too late and even the therapist agreed (although not as directly said).
This is what Tori will be. Not necessarily the same issues, but it's the same concept. Unless she gets serious help ASAP and removed from the home, she's gonna end up an unpleasant, low functioning loser with attachment issues and all the things that come with it. Now, there are plenty of kids from abusive and shitty homes that end up alright, but there's no guarantee that even with help she'll be somewhat okay. Tori is 11, so she's on the cusp. I'd bet if she doesn't get serious, concentrated help within a year or so she doesn't have a chance, barring some miracle on her part.
This is when the futility of her 'school' comes in and it is disgraceful. It seems like when she was in a real school they did notice the problems and if she still was in school, she could at least have teachers and other students to act as models. Hearing about her 'school' seriously disturbs me a bit. Kids needs boundaries. Fuck, kids want boundaries. Not corporal punishment or to live like monks, but just someone saying no sometimes.
And what dipshit thought letting kids of all ages be together unsupervised was a good idea? You know why anyone with half a brain doesn't let a 14 date an 18 year old? Because the younger you are, the more age difference matters. 4 years isn't a lot, but a 14 year old and an 18 are socially, cognitively, emotionally and life experiences-y on different planes of existence.
I don't think Cecily is the worst human in the universe, but at least mothers who put their kids in comas will probably lose custody.

From what I have read on sites about feel good schools like this is that it fucks the kids over.
They get zero official accreditation. They have to get a GED, most likely on there own dime. If they have the mental faculties to actually pass after all this brain washing from the shitshow of an "unthink" school, getting accepted to college is difficult.
While colleges are becoming feel good hugboxes for entitled shitheads, colleges still have to have to crosscheck some sort of transcript before allowing applicants. Since this school allows kids to do whatever the fuck they want, there is no "transcript" to gauge a childs aptitude. This means that these kids have to go to community college for a few classes to show that they dont have the IQ of a potato to hopefully get accepted into a four year college down the road.
