Formula 1 Discussion - And favourite driver?

I fully blame the smoothbrains over at reddit for "overtakes=good race". Every race thread there'll be some moron complaining there wasn't enough for it to be a good race or someone claiming a dull race was amazing due to the huge number of DRS flybys they call overtakes.

I once saw a thread where the OP did the number of ontrack overtakes in the refuling, no refusing eras to "prove" refuling made worse races. Pointing out that means nothing lead to massive downvotes and idiotic comments about being an idiot for loving processions.
This is not just something that is limited to Reddit because the whole reason DRS and KERS got added back in the early 2010s was to spice up the show, along with having tires that intentionally need to be driven carefully with. They saw one race in like 2010 where they didn't get the compounds just right, it made for an exciting race on what was already a good season and thought "we can keep repeating this" and now the tires are intentionally imperfect, and you can't just go to the end without pitting.

If anything, the problems of the sport is that it tries to regulate itself into finding some mysterious component that introduces an element of chaos to the race but every single team does their damnest to ensure there are no chaotic elements that will disrupt their race. If anything, there needs to be a reversion back to a more laissez-faire approach to how teams can build their cars, though I would leave the budget cap on because that was the most sensible suggestion of the 2010's reforms and it only fell thru because Ferrari threw a fit.

I think she's the Japanese anime opening singer:
Nah. Different Lisa. This was South Korean rapper from Thailand.

Anyways, apologies if this is late, but Congress is making angry Congress noises about F1 rejecting Andretti's bid. Talking about the Sherman Antitrust Act and stuff.

I really would like to see an American F1 team. Especially one with the Andretti name.

I tried to look this up. What I saw was a a graph that had the lowest overtakes in the refueling era and somewhat sensibly, plebbitors pointed out that there was a downward trend in overtakes that was apparently halted by refueling.

But I have seen reddit talk about this in the past, and most of it is them saying everything was worse back then. Going with the 2 laps margins that some drivers were able to win with.

Protectionism tends to blow up in stupid ways. But if they start antitrusting racing cartels, let's open up on the SMI/ISC duopoly for tracks in America.
IMO them just threatening Liberty Media over this shit is good because the bullshit reasons why Andretti didn't get allowed were essentially "I don't think you'll make US enough money". The sport needs at least two more teams for it to be truly healthy.

First Norris, now Leclerc? What are DTS fans going to do?

Only thing worse for them would be Hamilton coming out as straight.

Wait til they find out every single one of them does their utmost to avoid paying tax on their massive salaries. Redditors hate people not clamoring to hand over their hard earned cash to the state.

But these are hero's who risk their lives every other week to provide us with quality racing, they get a free pas for tax evasion because I said so.
I like this reality TV drama disguised as a racing series but sometimes fans can mix the racing and personal lives of the drivers too much. Dont get me wrong I do like the off-track drama (look at where I am) but during seasons lead by a dominant force the drama can be the only substantial news from the scene which gets nauseating after a while.

r/formula1 really does not understand that (1) they are not the target audience for the McLaren PR and marketing departments and (2) They are not a representative sample of F1 fans, but a silly little politics obsessed circlejerk.

This weekend has been SPECTACULAR pr for McLaren, across the board.

FOM and FIA apparently still trying to work out how to make everything shitter. In that spirit I present to you the wet weather spray guards ferrari tested for them.

Open wheel series you say? You want pit stops that don't take a minute or more? Well fuck you because driving if it's raining within within 30 miles of the track is far too dangerous, and even if this retarded shit is introduced it will still be somehow too dangerous in a different way.

Hmmm, I saw this pic which is I guess another option as it doesn't look like the two in your post.

Yeah they trialed two versions. Both look absolutely shit. I have seen some coping about them just being prototypes and they'll be so much better when they're proper carbon and in team colours, of course like most coping it's bullshit.

What even is the point of these when even in the slightest drizzle they red flag it god i hate the dumb cunts at FIA

Is it really the tyre grooves causing all the spray or the massive amounts of vorticity being constantly kicked up by these hyper aero cars?
This has always been an issue in the sport, the stewards these days simply refuse to let them race after the Jules Bianchi incident even though it would be reasonable to expect that once a gap is formed there will be room to see.
