Sony hate thread

In all sincerity, do companies really hunt down and attack random Joes that pirate a game or two? Feels like it'd be a waste of time and resources.
They're not filing lawsuits like they did in the Napster days, but they sit on popular torrents and then send complaints to your ISP, which at least allegedly can cause problems for you. For the almost negligible price of my VPN, it's worth it to avoid potential hassles.

Sony could make so much more money from PC players if Sony didn't insist on forcing players to create an account for a platform they don't own. Why does sony insist on power tripping especially given the current economic situation? It makes zero sense to me.
why does EA etc.?

I highly doubt there's some handrubbing sony exec sitting in a dark office getting a stiffy shitting on pc players. reality is a lot more mundane and boring. like they don't want anyone "unverified" interact with psn so the can ban people on their end, simple corporate mandate since it's cheaper or whatever to do it this way (even with the lost sales from those countries), maybe some to boost MAU etc.

like I said sony wants to sell those games. there's zero incentive to limit the number of buyers just for shits and giggles. however what the company wants as a business and deems important is not necessarily the same the single buyer thinks or can even comprehend.

In all sincerity, do companies really hunt down and attack random Joes that pirate a game or two? Feels like it'd be a waste of time and resources.
depending on the local law there's a huge space for c&d grifting. even everyone's favorite "good guy" cd project red did it.

sony is retarded for the end goal meme of making PC players pay for psn on pc.
:optimistic: but I don't see this happening, most of the games people pay PS+ for games not made by Sony (CoD, Fortnite, FIFA/EA Sports FC etc), Sony successfully established itself as the people who make cinematic over the shoulder type games (sometimes with open world) and barely anything else and their live service push will probably not pan out.
Helldivers 2 was a lightning in a bottle, but the bottle is cracking as the game is slowly crumbling under it's own weight with bad balance and insanely petty devs who keep shitting on people in the official Discord server plus the PSN restriction kerfuffle. They also cancelled a presumably live service game already (TLOU Factions), their other studio for live service stuff is fucking Bungie, who cannot keep players for more than a month at a time to play Destiny 2 - if they wouldn't charge for new expansions, the game would be dead already and the studio closed. They have VERY good marketing people, at least.
I find free online play to be insanely ingrained into the minds of PC players. Sony charging a subscription for online play for their games alone would be akin to Microsoft trying the same thing with GFWL (you know how that went) and the old Online Passes used to curb reselling (see what happened with GFWL).

Hubris. Sony thinks their position in the market is unassailable. Probably bolstered by extra hubris from the recent Xbox troubles with layoffs and struggling console sales.
Its not just hubris. Sony is outright delusional, because they have absolutely no reason to be arrogant. They are a distant second in the console race and not that far ahead of the Xbox, the Playstation 5's sales will never come remotely close to catching the PS4, and game sales are in the toilet. They are anything but unassailable. When Sony were arrogant going into the PS3 era, at least they had a reason to be; the PS2 was the overwhelming winner of its generation. The biggest punchline of the PS5 is that IT HAS NO GAMES. We are well into the PS5 generation now, so Sony still shouldn't be smelling themselves from the PS4's success.

It actually isn't. They don't get a vote in parliament and didn't get a say in Brexit, unlike Gibraltar.
Why would they get a say in Brexit? Isle of Man as well as the Channel Isles were never part of the EU even when the UK was and they had a weird status of being the only full UK citizens who were NOT also EU citizens, meaning they couldn't work and live in the EU, that's why they have to have unique passports.

Bungie, owned by Sony, have launched Marathon 1-3 for free on Steam, no PSN required and, for bonus lulz, so far isn't coming to PS5 :story:

So all the Sonyggers complaining about how whining, bitching, moaning steam users are pieces of shit for daring to defy Sony and their log-in details, they are rewarded with nothing, while Steam gets 3 free games.

Stay winning, PC chads.

Wow, awesome PS5 console features, Sony. Can't just let us transfer individual save files through USB devices like on the PS4. No, we have to either shell out money to use cloud saves or resort to the backup system that can only transfer saves in bulk and overwrites everything in the destination. Except that the PS5 can end up creating a corrupted backup file that's undetected until you attempt to restore from it, at which point only then are you informed of the corruption followed immediately by losing everything as the PS5 factory-resets because of course the console doesn't first check the integrity of the backup file just in case. Oh, and there's fuck-all information about the error code CE-100511-8.

So this just happened to me because I wanted to have a backup save in Stellar Blade when I got to the Point of No Return at the endgame after 40 hours, having to resort to the console backup system, and then I wanted to go back to that save when I found out that I permanently missed some collectibles in a segment I just went through. Now I have to do a speedrun all the way from the beginning just to finish the game. And there went my 90-hour Final Fantasy XVI save file too, which is a pain if I want to go back to it for the DLC.

Small price to pay to keep Save Wizard at bay.

Yes, that is why they did not get a say in Brexit, as opposed to Gibraltar, which did even though it doesn't get to vote in normal parliamentary elections. I was explaining it to a retard who didn't know about the statuses of the crown dependencies.

One of reasons being living space being a premium instead of being base over there.
While people say that, its probably not the reason. PC gaming is rising in popularity in Japan, and PCs take up more space than a console unless you're using a laptop. Xbox never did well in Japan because its an American product, and American products will never get chosen over a native Japanese one, and its generally difficult for American companies break through over there. Sony are doing worse in Japan because the just plain stopped catering to the market and have done all they can to discourage Japanese companies from releasing on their platform.

Oh no, I picked the wrong country and aren't an autistic sperg about the islands than sorround the UK.
Gibraltar is on that list anyway, so take your autistic, holier-than-thou fart sniffing attitude and kys, faggot.

I would offer you advice that, when correcting someones mistake, doing so decently goes a long way to people liking you. But seems as you're jsut a cock-swallowing faggot who follows me like a beta orbiter, you can receive aids, instead of advice. Keep following me all you want, I'm not going to fuck you, faggot. Now go kys.

I ain't even mad.

OT: Sony fans complain that releasing games on PC is pointless because of piracy. They're right, it's pointless releasing games on PC at the value of the Playstation brand and PS5 sales, because their games are only worth pirating.
