Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

I guess there are still villages they'll meet there that somehow exist despite the blockade.
In fact there's a whole-ass empire which is more developed than the towns/cities in the south, being that it's the Empire of Man that Flamme bestowed the modern magic era on and resultingly magic is a common thing for even regular peasants there.
It confused me too before reading the manga since the anime just flashes an undetailed map on screen for a second, but there's actually a bunch of shit between the central lands and Ende.

I guess the mage requirement is just because demons are occupying the bit directly over the border... but I think there's enough reason to guess that it's mostly a pretense for Serie to get her mitts on top wizzardz.

Big bro Chomo is ded. Long live Chomo.

Man, it's so strange how this shitty ass story is such a slog to sit through but it is also being rushed as fuck

Can you point to an episode where everything clicks. I've tried watching a few episodes, and its basically just characters walking slowly and/or staring silently at each other.
The first couple of episodes got my best friend. I'm not sure what exactly got him specifically, but I know he said it made him think about our friend group we kind of had now.

He and I have been friends the longest at 14 years or so, but most of the gang's only been around for about a decade. I think the idea of the passage of time being what it is, and that one day it'll all come to an end got to him.

I think he has a hard time with endings due to a really bad divorce his parents went through right after high school that basically alienated them to both he and his sister. I know it really caused him to spiral for a few years, and I don't think he's really ever managed to recover from whatever went down the same.

And I dunno, I guess something about Frerien made him reflect on that.

Is it the usual case of a shonen being stuck on a single battle for several months?
I can’t understand the appeal of Gintama. I read a good bit of it, but I can’t get into it. It just seems like the mangaka couldn’t settle on an idea. The serious moments are cliche, the parody moments feel like the same three jokes, and the culture jokes feel like he stole posts off of 2chan.
I've been watching the anime and it's a slow burn but it gets progressively better as it goes on. But god damn the wish for plot feels like a monkey's paw.

I’m like 400 chapters deep and I just don’t care for it. The plot progression is stuff you can see like a mile away and you can tell how it will be played due to how cliche it is. The words per panel are also fucking insane from both translation and source.

It’s a parody series, but I feel like every fucking villain gets a very sad redemption moment. It wants to have it’s cake and eat it too.

I'd say it really makes you reflect on the past. Wishing that you appreciated those fleeting moments and thinking back to those instances where you didn't do or say what you wanted to. It's definitely well done and quite the mid-life crisis anime lol (but it's not for everyone)
Exactly. This is what seems to be getting people in the feels. Makes you think about your own mortality.

Gintama is the one with the ronin (?) and the red haired girl right? I found it weird that they had no physical release of the anime.

Hey, anyone who is following the Delicious in Dungeon anime, could you help my retarded, autistic self? We're up to Episode 19 in my country, and I've been a bit confused regarding some character points re: Shuro, Liaos, and Falin.

It's probably clearer to someone who is following the manga and/or isn't socially retarded like myself, but I can't wrap my head around Shuro being in love with one of the "autistic" siblings- Falin- but intensely disliking the exact same traits in her brother. Maybe it becomes clearer with time in the manga, but it's not sitting right with me. Falin seems to be only slightly more socially adept than Laios, and is equally weird and obsessive. She also doesn't walk around in stripper gear so it's not even a fanservice thing.

I've been trying to find someone who's already addressed this, but without success. Plenty of ruminations over Laios and his possible autism, others defending Shuro, but nothing pointing out the contradictions in Shuro feelings towards each of the siblings.

I haven't really been thinking about that. I would guess that Falin's autism presents in a somewhat different way, and her being a healer helps establish a level of trust that he doesn't form with a male fighter. Falin is a bit more reserved and quiet while Liaos is a bit more bold and brash. Shuro is lord from the East so it's also possible that her behaviour is more appropriate for a woman at the right standing to be his wife, while her brother's behaviour conflicts with his cultural beliefs. Maomao from Apothecary Diaries is autistic and extremely endearing, but those same behaviours would be goofy for a guy at best. Kind of like if a handsome masculine man has extremely masculine children, his boys will be handsome while his daughters will not be beautiful because there's different expectations for each gender.

A man surrounded by asians folds for the first white woman he sees, simple as.

I think it has to do with how Falin was incredibly different from the women he grew up around. I'd say its a little more clear in side content that he has a bit of an issue with how they were always up in his business, especially when it comes to his baby sitter who was also his dad's mistress.
Falin lives life doing her own thing quietly, and that's pretty hot.

It really does bum me out that the Daydream Hour content won't be adapted into the anime, especially because it gives even more detail for the characters. For example, it's neat that we find out why the certain shapeshifters came out that way due to how each party member perceives each other.
