Seems like it was sometime in 2022 or early 2023, it's been "US Politics General" for a while now. I think the name also changed when the original thread got shut down and this one was made as replacement.

I think the title change was probably more to keep the thread relevant in A&H than anything else, and discussing Biden and the retarded Democrats usually led into sperging about various political topics and discussions. I was originally against the title change but these days I'm just glad when the thread isn't being derailed by hohol vs. zigger faggotry or something else.

I meant specifically the Subtext. It used to say "President Biden and his parade of failures" or something like that, and now it says "Discussion of President Biden and other politicians"

That's a fairly recent change. I recall seeing the old Subtext writing the last few weeks if not months. That's an odd thing to do.

Honestly, I'm fine with it being the US Politics thread. This is definitely a thread that views the left pretty overwhelmingly negatively, but there does tend to be decent conversation and debate.

As for the creation of this thread as opposed to the old one, in 2022 Race killed the last one for admin reasons maybe, but he was shifty about it.

Trump was so polarizing after he had the audacity to win in 2016 that creating two separate community watch threads for his fandom and hatedom to seethe about each other was the only way to try and contain the slapfight while still having boards to discuss current events & politics. The previous version of Articles and News was deleted off of the site in early 2017 and political discussion was banned sitewide for a while before that was done. Something similar eventually also had to be issued to deal with the Russia/Ukraine war.

Section 230 is what prevents Null from getting sued into oblivion by every lolcow discussed on this site and being held legally responsible for what we post. That consequently pissed him off and he waived the "no celebrities/politicians" rule for threads in the lolcow board to give Trump his own thread.
