I mean, he would have contracts or negotiations, of course, someone who works HR at a family firm has those aswell, but don't imagine this as him leveraging his draw trying to get more money, it's more like he gets put a paper in front of him and he can decide to either sign or not to sign for 5 fights at 2k each or whatever. As for his father flying in for said negotiations, 0% chance it was worth it, but obviously it could have happened if Tate himself was retarded enough and couldn't function without his father, but the contracts certainly didn't warrant it. He wasn't big enough and kickboxing doesn't pay enough as it is. A fairly recent fight that had a purse of I believe something like 300k was Rodtang vs Superlek. Sure, 300k isn't half bad, right? It was in ONE, likely one of the if not the most prestigious org right now when it comes to muay thai, and it was between 2 of the most hyped up modern goats of the sport and this payout made news headlines as it was astronomically higher than anything the sport has seen up to that point- like by actual magnitudes. Tate was 1. in a worse promotion 2. a long time ago 3. a nobody before he made his name elsewhere, you can kind of guess what kind of money he'd get from this alone.

These motherfuckers are getting permanent, irreversible brain damage for pennies- a couple thousand at most for a fight, and you still have to pay your coach, if you're in certain countries you have to pay for healthcare, taxes, so you do have costs. Like the UFC- literally the most renowned fighting organization that rakes in the most sponsor, advertising, you name it bucks is paying their daggie mountain niggers and brazilians like 10/10 or 15/15 for a fight quite frequently (first is for showing up second is for winning and you have to remember, you can get cut from the roster at any time if you aren't entertaining enough or not winning enough as well as you're likely not fighting more than twice a year at most), and some retarded z category euro kickbox org like 15 years ago isn't even remotely in the same ballpark.

Fighting's a game where you only make good money if you're in the top 000001% or whatever. I mean obviously Tate wasn't destitute or anything, you can still do your own little classes in your hometown as a mediocre competition kickboxer, you can make a career out of it, but your living standards are going to be painfully average, hence the transitioning to being a pimp and a grifter.

I really do not like that Tate seems to perfectly embody the stages of the formation and fall off a cult:

1. The founder acts completely reasonable. He seems like any other ordinary bloke that you can easily talk to and has 2 or 3 people that view him as a close friend.
2. There is now a following of 10+ people which attentively listen to anything the founder says, who officially takes on the status of a guru, mentor or priest.
3. There is now a large following of people allowing the founder to act more grandiose, he starts to get deified by his followers.
4. The follower count gets massive, at which point the founder starts to go insane, proceeds to do all sorts of weird shit, which more often than not end up crossing a local government.
5. The founder gets imprisoned, killed or dies of natural causes.

You can see this with the Manson family, Heaven's Gate, Branch Davidians etc. There are also cults like the Moonies which miraculously manage to outlast their founder, although they are left divided after a struggle for power. I can't see no other reason why people still follow or defend Tate at this point, other than that's what they've been conditioned to do and most if not all of their close acquaintances are part of the manosphere community, so not only are they out of touch with reality, they'd lose what little close bonds they have if they spoke out.

People meme that there will be some sort of incel revolution of sorts IE Fight Club, which I think is highly overblown, but there is a grain of truth to it, in a sense that I am afraid that figures like Tate do have reasonable potential of getting a dedicated enough following to do serious damage. All the pieces for the next Waco siege are there, as the manosphere community already consistently praises fighting and dying for your kin as the greatest manly virtue one can achieve. we just need one seriously mentally unsound guy with a big enough following to get into serious trouble, whose followers will blindly believe that by fighting the next Waco siege they'll have roman statues erected of themselves.
