One Piece - I'm Gonna Be the Pirate King!

He’s teamed up with Buggy and Croc and everyone knows they will come face to face with the SH. The last time we saw them was Buggy declaring to make his move. Which came immediately after Shanks saying he’d start moving.
As I feel, The One Piece, the very thing at the core of this series, is starting to feel like a thing of “oh yeah, there’s a treasure these guys are all looking for.” I don’t even think I remember the last time that thing was talked about in earnest. Probably back then, or when Luffy was talking about his true dream.

It only feels like it might not be relevent because as you say, reading weekly, that was ages ago. Even when storywise it really wasn’t.

Part of me thinks the issue is Oda doesn’t have time to deducate to showing more of that than is absolutely needed.
I was thinking maybe that issue of not being able to show as much as you’d like could have been fixed by moving to a monthly like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure around the time of Steel Ball Run, but I don’t think One Piece is structured in a way that that’d be possible. Also, WSJ and Toei might block such a move.

To be fair its not like Luffy and Co obsessing over One Piece at the moment would be helpful. Like is Luffy gonna shake the Location of the Road Poneglyph out of Punk Records? Shit the only Guess -I- have for where it might be is that Whitebeard gave it to John to hide, that Z-plot has to come around at some point else why would he be brought up as a former Member of the Rock's Pirates?

I’m saying they HAVE to obsess over it or anything. I just feel that with all this Lord of The Rings-esque worldbuilding and lore development, seeing the main driving force of the series be stuck in neutral is kind of frustrating to me when you’re reading in the moment. At least it looks like we’re about to finally open some mystery boxes.

Sorry for sticking to this, it’s becoming kind of a pet peeve for me.

It isn’t stuck in neutral. We’ve been getting the pieces to find it in every major arc or learning about the people connected to the treasure and the fact they were clearly trying to do something.

Just because they aren’t mentioning the one oiece by name every chapter doesn’t mean it isn’t the driving force

And Luffy would have Oda deaw him screaming at you to stop asking about it every other chapter, because that’s what would have to happen to keep most people truly focused on the main hoal in a series that comes out weekly, short of what already happens which is every couple of months some lore gets dropped that is obviously tied to the One Piece.

As you say the last time they talked about it was Luffy’s dream and that was immediately before this very arc that is set to drop info on the person behind the treasure in the first place.

I’m struggling to think of when else Oda could really do it.

Fact is, it’s a treasure that no one knows about and they do not know where it is and they don’t have all the map to find it. There’s nothing for them to talk about honestly.

So there is already a rise in sea levels and it would take only 5 more meters to screw the cities? While it does sound a lot since we are talking about the entire water level who knows how fast this will happen?
I wonder just how much he knows.
Oda really can't seem to kill off any character
I mean, he got hit with an attack called "Time Capsule," did you really think he was going to stay dead? edit: "Ice Time," "Ice Capsule," whatever. Any translation still gives the implication of "freeze you for (X) amount of time."

If you say so. I guess we only see one thing being juggled that we don’t see the rest. How many things are being juggled right now anyway?

The thing to remember is that the history of the world is connected to the One Piece.

Vegapunks message here is giving us context for what the final strech means. If Imu wins the world will slowly be consumed by water.

Not enough to try killing him and be bothered enough to actually finish the job.

The funniest outcome would be Doffy actually knows nothing and has just been bullshitting. But the World Goverment doesn’t know that…
The funniest imo would be that Doffy's made a wild shitty guess that just happens to be right. They don't know how he knows because he doesn't either, but he "knows."

Well, Joy Boy did leave The One Piece to be found by Roger, didn’t he?

As for Imu, what’s there to say this is a win/loss thing ? The sea rising was because of Mother Flame use. Unless I’m missing something.

As for the final stretch, I think it’s mostly a matter of Whitebeard’s last speech: it’s more than just some treasure, and the world will go into full on Marineford on steroids when it’s found, with Vegapunk adding the how and why (I just wonder if there’s going to be some not so subtle hints that cosmic forces are just chilling and waiting for Luffy like what happened with Whitebeard’s speech).

Isn’t that what fans have said in regards to Usopp and his tall tales?

About 5/7 i think?

Exactly. I’d find that a much funnier reason than whatever we’ll end up learning was the actual answer.

Well Joy Boy left it for someone to find, but I don't think it was specifically Roger.

I presume the Sea's Raising was because of Whatever weapon he used to wipe out Lulusia, which is powered by the Mother Flame..or at least the Weapon's use is worsening the effect of the Sea Raises. If it is just the Motherflame then why aren't the seas rising from Vegapunk using it to power Egghead?

(I just wonder if there’s going to be some not so subtle hints that cosmic forces are just chilling and waiting for Luffy like what happened with Whitebeard’s speech).
I doubt it is a Cosmic Force..or Fate or Destiny if only because Freedom is a major theme of One Piece. If it were a Fated set of events then Roger wouldn't have mentioned wanting "His Son to be the one to Follow him"

Whitebeard's words were pivotal to how the series has been going thus far as to me i think knowing that the One Piece exists is enough for the audience to know that it is something and it is also a tangible thing. With how the events are going right now we are seeing previously high profile figures getting extremely active so that means we as the audience and the characters are dangerously close to seeing what it really is.

Inherited Will is another theme as Fate is one part but someone to carry your banner and your legacy is also a big part of the theme of the series.

Saul has been fucking hinted at not being dead for years. Robin has been aware he’s not dead since Sabaody when Dragon told her.

It’s explicit that the One Piece wasn’t left for Roger. It’s part of why Roget laughed and named the island Laughtale.
So it wasn’t. I just remember the laughing being because of how the treasure connected to everything he and his crew learned.

TBH, I think the story and Oda have set things up to where we the audience first see the treasure when Luffy does. I just say this because Whitebeard’s speech was done when Luffy was knocked out/rendered comatose after Ace died, along with the fact Luffy and Robin both said no to the chance to learn about their respective end goals when they had the chance with Rayleigh.

We may be close to seeing the treasure, but I doubt we’re going to see it thanks to Vegapunk. Most I can think of is how Joy Boy got the treasure to where it is, and maybe why people would go after it if they knew what it really was. Hell, Vegapunk may not even know about what the treasure is because he said he didn’t know some things and he wasn’t going to bother to try and fill in the blanks with speculation .

Was it ever established that any of the Straw Hats were paying attention to Vegapunk’s final broadcast?

You're overthinking it. The sea rose because the mass of an island is now entirely underwater.

You're all asking the wrong questions. What we SHOULD be wondering (and should have been since we saw the aftermath of Lulusia getting raped) is:

What place used to be where Enies Lobby ended up getting built over? And when did THAT get it's crap pushed in?
