Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

I've noticed more creators who cover true horror and tragedies using the "synthetic or simulated" flag Google rolled out when they do things like use an AI pic of men trapped in a submarine or whatever, and it is what it is. I'd rather there still at least be a little good disaster content and can't blame them for playing well within the rules of the ecosystem when morbid shit that's hard to monetize is clearly not what YouTube wants people flocking to the platform for. I watch a lot more about mountains, caving, natural disasters, and shipwrecks than true crime, so there's not as much ess-ayy and unalive phrasing and I'd imagine you'd be a little more likely to get dinged for unmarked AI when you're not talking about rape and murder but you're on the disturbing content shitlist.

But why the fuck is necessary to spell out "adjusted archive photo"? I get the meaning just fine, but I'm lost on why it needs a separate label and what it's actually for.

Speaking of furfags. Another tranny on YouTube demanding more censorship. Of indie video games, Analog Horror and Splatterpunk books. A furfag Troon that sexualized the powerpuff girls at that.
Sorry for the incoming spergout, but I genuinely hate this new wave of anti-horror horror fans. What the fuck is the point of horror if it can't be horrifying and disgusting? And then they always want to bring out the argument of "WELL if it was good then it wouldn't need that!" as if you can't make that argument for legitimately anything containing anything. If this video was good it wouldn't need her face, if she was good at makeup she wouldn't need eyeliner, if it was good it wouldn't need to be recorded on X camera, if it was good she wouldn't even need commentary just text, etc etc etc.. Then there is also the bizarro argument that there's a difference between horror and disgust as if that isn't a total nitpick and dismissive of subgenres in horror. Nobody watches porn for the amazing story or for feminism so don't act as if it's incredibly shocking that there's depictions of women getting bitched around. Regardless of if you personally are scared by it, it's still horror. If that was what people went off of I think GooseBumps wouldn't be a horror giant.

Also, it's incredibly funny that she says all those things but her profile picture contains the character "Pinkie Cooper" who is from a failed doll line that was turned into a webcomic containing things like BDSM, unhealthy relationships, drug use, self harm, suicide etc.. which could be argued is all also unnecessary, but they're lesbian dogs so it's probably okay or something. It's also DOUBLY funny how she says that that LeyLey Coffin game attracts creepy people and gives them a platform while being part of the LGBT (and presumably) furry crowd who are notorious for celebrating sex pests, liars, abusers and mutilators, etc..

It's also kind of funny because these types of people also LOVE the Saw series for.. homosexual shipping? And argue it's different somehow because 'muh characters' despite it also being one of the godfathers for the 2000s ressurgence of gross-out exploitation films. Which, again, no shame in that, but it's funny watching these people cope and justify things when at the end of the day we are all the same.
I don't care that she doesn't like X or thinks Y is underwritten, but the snark in all of these people are irritating and make me MATI. They don't like horror, they like superiority and drama fiction.

Distressing things don't belong in horror

Also found this. I'm ready for a new genre of horror at this point, since 0% of analog horror creators have ever handled a VCR at this point.

Although I'm still perturbed a lot of the supplied art is at the skill level of an MS paint doodle ran through some filters. It's a reverse Jeff-the-killer effect where it poisons the story before I even start to read it.

If you're a really shitty artist, just don't draw for your story. Easy.

The more I see people talking like this, the more I feel that they don't like being scared or horrified. I wonder if they have ever played an actual game containing jumpscares instead of watching others play them, or if they have ever stumbled upon a rekt/gore thread on /gif/.

The guys behind MC and Backrooms were in their late teens when they started, right? Not only did they grow up well past the VCR era, but they pretty much skipped the CD era and spent their childhood in the Blu-ray/streaming era. I doubt they even had a CRT TV in their house at all growing up. How did this weird fascination with VHS/Analog start? Was it just Local58 or was there a weird tiktok trend that helped get the zoomers into it?

They did not, and it's my opinion jumpscares with disabled comment sections need to make a comeback. I understand it's a little tedious to be surprised by a screamer, and most people don't appreciate it as it's fallen out of fashion nowadays, but it's gone too far.

Now, you'll see massive amounts of comments timestamping "jumpscares" (which are often silent already) and even more replies thanking them because "they're cheap and I hate them".

No, you are a pussy nigga who is actually scared of being scared for 0.01ms. Screamers and jumpscares have a divine, kingly right to exist- because they've trained us to FEAR silence. To FEAR stillness. Now, the silence and the stillness have no threat behind them. People will praise this, the same way they'd praise a delicious chocolate brownie which confers only reward and comfort.

Horror online should not rely on the jumpscare, but to totally shirk it just leads to even more of the tenderqueer neuro-divergent hugboxing we witness now.

They're faux "autists." They use the light and sound sensitivity symptoms of actual autism as a way to live leisurely. Enough is enough; it's time to bully these losers again. Horror lives on challenging norms, not being nitwit philosophical bullshit.

I’m putting my money on Local58 being patient zero, 100%. While there were plenty of ARGs beforehand, I can’t recall a single one that was VHS/“analog” themed before Local58.
Humans fear what they don’t understand/aren’t familiar with, this has been the backbone of horror since the dawn of storytelling. Zoomers naturally find VHS spooky because it’s old and completely alien. Additionally, the older zoomers probably did actually grow up on shitty CRTs and the tail end of VHS, so add a layer of nostalgia to it. It’s the same reason liminal spaces are so popular, and why the most famous instances are always somehow related to early 2000’s childhood.

I can't even tell what this is supposed to be about, it's like he's telling a story but he's hallucinated saying most of the actual context and assumes you know what he's talking about
That's because it's part 2
Here's the first one
The other thing that contributes to the weirdness is the fact that it's viewing part 1 from a different perspective. In the first 30 seconds he talks about the youtube channel that uploaded the video as well as his friend sending him a link to a "disturbing unlisted video" from the channel. But it's also just his channel.

I have a theory that most zoomers find VHS and old tech scary because they cannot fathom a world where they can't readily contact thousands of people online instantly by reaching into their pockets and pulling out their phones. That might be me overthinking it, but the younger zoomers weren't cognizant for the world "as it used to be" - herein read as "pre-social media 2.0". They have never truly been alone, in a situation where they couldn't pull out a phone and call someone, hop into a discord call to stream it to their friends, or copy and paste the link into a tweet to show others that they aren't alone in being frightened by it. To the zoomer, analog technology, that is to say any type of technology that isn't connected to the Internet, represents isolation that can't be adequately negated through any of the tried and true methods they grew up using. If you were to put a zoomer alone in a room, take their phone away, and turn on a CRT with a copy of any old slasher flick that is considered goofy and cliche by todays standards - they'd piss themselves before the second third of the movie. This is also why they get creeped out by single player only video games, old recordings of songs on wax cylinders, liminal spaces, etc. They cannot fathom being completely and totally disconnected and alone.

That's Nightmind? I haven't watched him in years, I knew he had a fursona, but it was a cat with 4 eyes, that looked much more dignified.
Holy shit I just assumed it was someone aping him, but the color scheme and the green vest were something I recall from Night Minds OC. Loe and behold, yeah it's him, under the Astraline collaboration.
Forgot that he'd begun switching to this rabbit OC a while ago.

This channel is hilariously dead btw, comparing it to Night Mind's stats on his regular channel.
