Law Belgian Government Will Intervene In Cases Where Prostitutes Refuse Sexual Acts Too Often - Based?

A new law in Belgium celebrated by activists for providing a “labour contract” to prostitutes will also enable their pimps to punish them with a government mediator if they refuse sex more than 10 times in a six-month period. The Belgian Parliament voted for the law on May 3, with 93 in favor, zero opposed, and 33 abstentions.

The legislation is being touted as a win by UTSOPI, the Belgium Union of Sex Workers, which had lobbied extensively for the legislation. The law outlines that prostitutes will receive health insurance, a pension, maternity and holiday leave, and unemployment benefits. Their pimps will be forced to provide them with a “safety button” to use for emergencies.

Their website claims that the law “is a historic step in the battle for sex workers’ rights” and will create a “respectful, fair relationship” between prostitutes and their pimps, with UTSOPI spokesperson Daan Bauwens telling media that he believes “Belgium is really demonstrating that it aims to protect sex workers, regardless of any moral judgements about the profession people may have.”

Prostitutes are to be granted “rights” to refuse sexual acts, stop sexual acts, perform sexual acts in the manner they prefer, and refuse to sit behind Amsterdam-style windows (public facing windows where prostitutes are on display). However, should a prostitute use these “rights” 10 times within six months, their pimp can then call on a government mediator to intervene.

All pimps must have a registered office and apply to the Belgian government for approval to offer contracts to prostitutes. The contracts will be disguised as hotel-restaurant-café (HoReCa) contracts so that prostitutes can remain anonymous.

Andrea Heinz, a prostitution abolition advocate, called out the new legislation on X (formerly Twitter).

“There is little chance this will (actually) favour women. Under legalization/full decrim, pimps become ‘managers’ with the backing of the state to further entrench and maintain their power. Pimps see women they sell as products, not people deserving of full dignity & respect.”

Outside the realm of so-called “sex work” activism, social media users have expressed horror at the new law.

“So the [government] helps pimps to coerce sex, what a disgusting idea,” posted X user @Bob16747466.

You know the progressive left should be celebrating this. Now sex work is classified as real work and you can't refuse work lest you get fired. Equal rights for everyone right?

And would that also include OF whores? Like "Hey dear judge 'BigtitsXXX' didn't provide new content for weeks. Can you please order her to do more content?"

From the sound of things this is less 'the government forcing hoes to suck dick' and more 'if the employer who is providing Healthcare benefits and such to an employee has issues with the employee doing her job right, he can ask the government to discuss the situation on the record'

There's no way the EU is right to work, this is probably a mandatory step before the pimp can fire a whore for not performing. You just know there'd be some 'I only fuck tens once a month' chick still demanding to be paid all her benefits.

It's like a McDonalds fry cook who refuses to pour the oil on the fries.
There is an important difference, though. One is pouring oil on fries and the other is having no right to refuse some violent, diseased or stinking poor hygiene man fuck you.

It's subtle but it's a good example of why analogies are only good for explaining, not for arguing.

Is the crushing ignominy of being a housewife that keeps home base in order, instills good values in her children and stands shoulder-to-shoulder with her husband against the world...really worth enduring all this as an alternative?
I don't think women who enter prostitution were or are in a situation that makes that a possible option.

Why are pimps still necessary in a government-sanctioned prostitution network?

Why aren't whores simply independent contractors?

Is this simply an economy of scale issue? Division of labor?

Is this a proletariat vs bourgeoisie thing where the pimps own the capital assets like real estate and storefronts, leaving the whores as wage slaves reporting for duty?

Is it simply more profitable for hoes to pay a pimp to do the business end of client acquisition so they can focus solely on logistics and fucking?

I always assumed that where prostitution was still illegal, the function of a pimp was more for protection and turf wars in the style of the drug trade.

This seems like an untapped market where the entire pimp layer of redundancy could easily be replaced by the gig economy and an app.

Things may have changed since I was a teen, but McNiggers don't pour oil on fries.

The fries used to come frozen in sealed bags, which were torn open and poured into racks of metal baskets.

They would then sit suspended until the station ran low, when a basket or more would then be plunged into vats of oil on timers. Timer goes off, basket gets dumped directly into the fry station under warming lights.

Fries are salted, then scooped in holders on demand.

I have to disagree. I know multiple women that willingly chose to enter into sex work, be it OnlyFans or actual flesh-pressing. I bet you do, as well.

Do all women enter into it willingly? Of course not. But logical minds would assume that almost none of these women want the government telling them "no you have to take this dick to meet your quota".

If you want respect maybe don't reduce yourself to a sexual object that can be sold for money
A lot of these "sex workers" are trafficked or hooked on substances their pimps supply to them in spades. The reason the government doesn't crack down on it is because the industry makes them a lot of tourist money. If government-mandated rape will keep raking those dollars in, they'll do it.

The whole industry needs to fucking burn and every politician that supports it under the guise of "progressive" policies should be shot.

No no, people here will say these women brought it upon themselves, that they're worthless whores who deserve everything they get and the world would be a perfect place if those idiotic, inferior, should-be slaves had never been allowed human rights!

Awww shit man I forgot I voted for government-sanctioned rape. My bad. Guess women demanding equal rights was a disaster for the human race after all.

The complete smear job the Nordic Model has been getting the last decade or so despite it's objective success seems extra fishy now, I reckoned it was just coomerjohns and their academic useful idiotettes but was it corpo-pimps all along just wanting more muh markets?
