I had the privilege of hearing the unedited version first, and I gotta say—I still don't really buy Ted's story.

First of all, why volunteer that information? The way Ted explained it makes it sound like he's trying to justify something. "I wasn't trying to strangle her!" Yeah, that's not something most people ever need to explain, Ted. But also, Ted is temperamentally imbalanced. He has a terrible temper, and you can hear it in his voice. So when he drops an anecdote about "the angriest I ever got was when my girlfriend locked me out, and I wanted to get back in, I just wanted to talk, I was furious, but I wasn't going to strangle her!" ...it makes me think maybe the girlfriend was scared for her life, or maybe some DV shit went down.

What I find most interesting about Teddy's hatred for you is that it's not as tempered as Ethan's. I know you've chapped both of their asses but I guess Ralph just carries himself better. It isn't even like Teddy ever got a proper Ballad.
