Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

They did not, and it's my opinion jumpscares with disabled comment sections need to make a comeback. I understand it's a little tedious to be surprised by a screamer, and most people don't appreciate it as it's fallen out of fashion nowadays, but it's gone too far.

Now, you'll see massive amounts of comments timestamping "jumpscares" (which are often silent already) and even more replies thanking them because "they're cheap and I hate them".

No, you are a pussy nigga who is actually scared of being scared for 0.01ms. Screamers and jumpscares have a divine, kingly right to exist- because they've trained us to FEAR silence. To FEAR stillness. Now, the silence and the stillness have no threat behind them. People will praise this, the same way they'd praise a delicious chocolate brownie which confers only reward and comfort.

Horror online should not rely on the jumpscare, but to totally shirk it just leads to even more of the tenderqueer neuro-divergent hugboxing we witness now.

Nah you know what, fuck it, I was NEVER onboard this whole "oooh, jumpscares are boring and lazy" bullshit every pretentious horror "fan" has been on for years, the whole point of the stillness and silence being scary is because you're EXPECTING the jumpscares, you're expecting something to come out and kill you, not because you're genuinely scared of a completely normal room that younger zoomers label "liminal".
As cheesy and stupid as The Backrooms gets with its monsters, it's infinitely more boring to just have several videos of someone stumbling around the same basic 3d modelled room with some stock vhs effects overlayed onto it by someone who's never held a vhs tape in their life.

How did this weird fascination with VHS/Analog start? Was it just Local58 or was there a weird tiktok trend that helped get the zoomers into it?
I think it was Local 58

But I think every generation tries to use something from the previous generation as scary when it was mundane. Like look at how many movies use upbeat 30s-40s music in a creepy manner or the use of the radio as something scary.

It's just a weird human thing to treat old technology as scary.

Based and unfathomably true. The mass adopting of therapy language and the padding of the internet has been detrimental to humans as a species. I think people who want horror movies to come with a pocket book of warnings and a mass execution of horror producers for not portraying the mentally ill as good and innocent people should look at the wars they're currently mindlessly protesting about. Before things like incest used to be gross and sometimes a funny joke, but now we have to be sensitive and consider poor poor leatherface who wears the skin of women because hes a trans icon.

This. The horror genre has been filled with people who saw A24 films and think all horror needs to be well written and beautiful. I think it comes from how everyone has anxiety nowadays and the culture of instant gratification. If you aren't expecting it or have to sit in suspense it's literally le deadly and zooms will choke down fifty lithium per hour to escape emotions they were never taught to handle. I think what Dalmation Enthusiast said was right because people are so hyper connected that the idea of being bored or alone is genuinely unfathomable to people nowadays, but I also wonder if it comes from a case of troll's remorse. I see a lot of zoomers talking about having unrestricted internet access and not wanting younger people to go through that, and I wonder if people are now too ashamed to admit that they used to like movies that were insensitive or not good by modern standards. I think media and people in general are just going through a "too good for it" phase right now.

I watch a fair bit of horror movies, and I can say definitively that I've never seen a single A24 movie that was scary, well written, or beautiful. I remember I had a buddy who took one of those "media comprehension" classes in college and some of the shit he told me about was hilarious. Case in point, there's some A24 movie called "A Ghost Story" about a spook in a sheet living in a house after he's dead. There's a fucking 4 minute long scene that's just some bitch eating a pie and then vomiting. I remember a different buddy really liked "The VVitch" and I kept telling him he was retarded, so I watched it. That's an hour and a half I'm never getting back - never understood why the director decided to make the main character like 15 and then make her get naked for the final shot. The actress was like 19 at the time, but it's still a little weird in hind sight. I'm tired of all this "I'm an artist, I'm above that" bullshit - I long for the days of coke-fueled, white knuckled, "You know what would be fucked up and freaky and get asses in seats?" movie making. To quote Big Floyd - Our younger generation is clearly lost man, clearly lost.
EDIT: I forgot to type "him" in "I kept telling him we was retarded".

Seems like being naked is actually part of the Flying Ointment magic.

Every artistic painting of witches sabbat has one witch slathering her nude body with it. Obviously all artists are coomers, secret or not, but the director didn't seem to make that out of whole cloth though.

Bartolommeo's second account is more suggestive and points toward another element in the witches' 'flights'. It concerns a certain notary of Lugano who, unable to find his wife one morning, searched for her all over their estate and finally discovered her lying deeply unconscious, naked and dirty with her vagina exposed, in a corner of the pigsty. The notary 'immediately understood that she was a witch' (!) and at first wanted to kill her on the spot, but, thinking better of such rashness, waited until she recovered from her stupor, in order to question her. Terrified by his wrath, the poor woman fell to her knees and confessed that during the night she had 'been on a journey'.

Academic answer: There's a connection between magick and sex.
Realistic answer: Single man-hating women living in a woodland lesbian commune riding brooms.

It was alright movie but as a 4chan post put it best
One of us could be the devil!
Could it be my wife?
Could it be my son?
Could it be my daughter?
Could it be my large black goat named Amodesous lord of all evil that talks to my kids?
Could it be my other daughter?

This is how I feel about horror content and ALL content in general nowadays. Modern movie makers and content producers now like to smear everything in a thick layer of lube to soften the fact that they're fucking you out of something actually interesting. At least back then people had some semblance of "fuck it, lets go!" instead of feeling the need to conserve your feelings. Why the FUCK are people clicking on cases and videos about death and trafficking and then thanking the creator for censoring shit? Do they think when Mexicans get beheaded it's a fun game?
I heard a quote that said "modern true crime is just modern day freak shows for sensitive middle aged women" and honestly that's true. Instead of being honest and just making extreme cinema about drug addicts fucking for cash now you have to pretend it's 'for empathy' and maybe add some sad piano over your actress pretending to take it from behind, or in the case of YouTubers, having to dick suck some chick who was killed to pretend you're 'respecting their memory' and aren't protecting your JewTube money or getting 3K a month on Patreon and 2K a video from some shitty app game sponsor.

Speaking of furfags. Another tranny on YouTube demanding more censorship. Of indie video games, Analog Horror and Splatterpunk books. A furfag Troon that sexualized the powerpuff girls at that.
I'm telling y'all, people love pretending to be provocative and edgy until it starts to question their moral code or limitations. People want to be scared but not too scared. People love ((safe)) gore and talking about beating people's skulls open but anything regarding more tense topics is a no-no. People want to be horrified but only in a safe limit. Not saying people need to handle these stuff, but censoring them does squat. Horror is meant to be uneasy and tense, to make one uncomfortable. To make one think about "what was in this author's mind when they made this"? It's called horror for a reason.

But no, horror is a joke nowadays. Horror is at its safe edgy phase and I feel like it's been that way for years, and the LGBT community only worsened that feeling. They want to go "against the man" and act like they're hardcore punks but will still start losing it to the moment some random bloke makes a piece of media on a certain topic that they may or may not like. We don't need hundreds of trigger warnings. That junk I feel only lessens the impact of the horror. A simple "This [blank] may contain sensitive topics or scenes that a general audience may not be comfortable seeing. Viewer's discretion is advised." works much better than listing all the things that are going to be in the video. Though, that's more of a nitpick than anything.

Of course, edginess does need some merit of good work put into it. Edginess can't be edgy for the sake of edgy - but then again, not every edgy piece of media needs a reason or a story behind it. Some things are just meant to be irreverent and meant to shock as many people as possible. It's the same feeling as how not every cartoon needs to be some deep lore with well written characters and a dark, edgy plot where the main characters go through the 12 stages of angst. Some cartoons can just either be well written and silly or silly as a whole, and like with edginess, some of them, if not many, are just meant to shock and bewilder the viewer as much as possible.

You can't stop a man from making an offensive game as much as we can't stop a man from making an Analog Horror video that's so stereotypical with its tropes and cliches that you could call it a parody and people would believe you.

The point of horror is to go against the things that people are comfortable with and being disturbing without really caring what the audience thinks about it as it will change nothing to the overall shock value, even if the topics at hand may be more offensive than your average 2fort lobby in TF2. But through that, there will also be people who do handle edginess right, keeping it disturbing, unsettling and/or grotesque whilst not being pure LiveLeak-esque shocking to look at or coddling/babying the audience.

But even after all of what I explained, it's inevitable knowing we're at this stage in horror where the only acceptable form of horror is safe horror. Safe edginess. Things that are edgy but not too edgy lest you want a bunch of angry blokes cancelling you left and right for it. It's why hardly anyone really tries with Analog Horror nowadays. They can do the bare minimum, the basic blocks of making someone jump, and it'll have lore and "Most Disturbing Analog Horror" videos made out of it, man. At this point, for anyone making horror- stay anonymous.

Imma be real, I hate jump scares. I'm the autist that spergs out from sharp, loud noises, and avoid anything that has them.

We need them back.

I still remember my cousins showing me The Maze Game, and that fucking scream. I remember one of them telling me to really focus on that last moment, that bitch! From then on, nothing was safe.

For the first two examples, it's fine to be uncomfortable with depictions of violence against children and avoid media that feature it. In fact would imagine thats how most people feel the same way, so no shame in it. It is still art and they are marketed and aimed at a specific audience anyway, so no one is going to be suprised when they open up playground and see what they see. The argument against incest in the third one was pretty weak and as far as incest in visual novels go, that one is probably the most "tasteful" and "nuanced" in regards to the topic. If someone wants to see real horror have a peek at the endless pile of incest hentai games or the bottomless pit of incest themed porn videos on pornhub.

That means so little coming from the same LGBT community that defends kids stripping at drag shows.
Sorry for the incoming spergout, but I genuinely hate this new wave of anti-horror horror fans. What the fuck is the point of horror if it can't be horrifying and disgusting?

Honestly, I blame a lot of recent safe space pro-censorship of the horror trash fandom on Wendigoon. Before Wendigoon took off YouTube, the horror community praised and loved Art the clown movies. Nowadays, they will try to cancel Art the clown the same way they did urban Spooks. Also, fuck Joey for ruining the Blood Meridian Discussion online with his horrible fan theory that the judge is a demon and everything happening is iteral and not metaphorical or illusions. No, you can't give Blood Meridian a free pass Wendigoon for having the same levels of violence as Urban Spooks, because it is better written. Whether it is all allowed or not at it.

Saw series
I fucking hate that Fandom culture infested Saw with their shitty fujo bullshit. Fucking hell

People want to be horrified but only in a safe limit.
Which is one of the most oxymoronic things I've heard when you consider Horror goes against all that on principle.

I blame FNAF and adjecent games for this surge of baby horror.

WTF I hate Wendigoon now!?!

Speaking of FNAF and wendigoon. He hates FNAF for being a kid's horror series but likes the FNAF clone Walton files for being more dark and gory. Although Walton Files still has violence against children, but with a lesbian poodle robot. I don't think safe space horror being pushed by zoomers outside the non-Troons. It's probably a Reddit and fat childless white woman thing. Zoomer still made sure the FNAF movie was one of the few recent profitable blockbuster movies.

Id argue things can be edgy for the sake of edginess. Anything can be anything, it's art even if you think its bad.

I just think its funny how these people will go on to have rape kinks and getting off to truly unethical/bigoted material like Dykebreaking, but they hold fictional stories, comedy, and characters to a different standard. Totalitarianism only in the context of outside porn.

They can't fathom that just because an artist created something doesnt mean those are their actual thoughts and feelings because thats how they operate.

I think most people think very lowly of porn, even if they claim they don't. A lot of coomers' kinks are built entirely out of engaging in something they view as beneath them.

Yeah Chucky's kid is a non gender binary faggot (legit cannon for those who haven't watched. Horror movie logic of having both glen and glenda souls) but chucky only accepted him when he stopped being a absolute sissy faggot and murdered people.

Not really a great endorsement.

Passing up plowing Tiffany for Chucky? What the fuck is wrong with you? Is Tiffany in the show?

The spic is immunized to the average rapist/murder death monster that lurks in the woods because other spics have been doing that to each other for millenia
so they turn to the fear of the unknown like magic manlets who can steal your little brother or curse you with cancer
Fuck you nigga, Duendes are nostalgic early Latin american "horror" kino.

(Horror adjacent i guess?) There was a famous shock video in youtube called "EL Clavado" (High dive) or something like that, I have never seen it because i don't like gore but it was about some dude high diving and missing the water or something like that.
Sadly for us, Spanish speaking content doesn't have deep dives about the origin of horror/shock media (and if there are any, they're translations of already existing content in English). And sometimes the origin and folklore surrounding horror and shocking media is more interesting than the media itself (The Grave Robing for Morons video that someone posted early in the thread or Ahoy documentary on Polybius for example).
