Culture Assassin's Creed Shadows Is Already Being Called "Woke" And "Disrespectful" - Assassin's Creed Shadows' two protagonists are getting the abuse we all sadly expected.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is already being labeled as "woke" and "disrespectful" following its announcement trailer, primarily due to main characters Naoe and Yasuke, the latter of whom is historically considered Japan's first black samurai.

Ubisoft has finally lifted the lid on the next mainline Assassin's Creed, revealing that Assassin's Creed Shadows will be available on November 15 later this year. While we didn't get any gameplay, we did get a lengthy cinematic trailer going into the backstories of the game's two main protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke. Naoe appears to be a Shinboi from the Japanese provinces, while Yasuke is considered to be Japan's first black samurai, and came into contact with several prominent figures in Japanese history.

That means Assassin's Creed Shadows will center around a woman and a black man, and some people on social media have reacted with exactly the kind of behavior we have come to expect nowadays whenever a protagonist isn't a straight white man. In the replies of Ubisoft's announcement tweet, you don't have to look very hard for people decrying the game as "woke" and "disrespectful", with a sprinkling of DEI in there for good measure.

Assassin's Creed Shadows' Yasuke Is Somehow "Disrespectful" To Japan

Most of the vitriol revolves around Yasuke, with some people taking issue with the fact that they're being made to play as a black man in a Feudal Japan setting, despite the character being a key figure in Japanese history. Some claim that it's inappropriate for Ubisoft to have someone who isn't native to the country as one of the main characters, though I don't think these same people take issue with the fact that the incredibly Welsh Edward Kenway was sailing around the Carribean in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

You've also got some stating that Yasuke wasn't actually a samurai, but was a retainer to Oda Nobunaga, and that this somehow "disrespects" Japanese culture. However, people are already pointing out Yasuke was Nobunaga's Kosho, which is essentially the bodyguard or personal servant of a general or lord and is considered a samurai in Japanese history. Just because Yasuke didn't belong to a Samurai clan, it doesn't mean he wasn't one.

So I keep seeing retards saying a retainer and a samurai are the same thing, I guess to cope with the fact that Yasuke was not actually a nigger samurai. So I ask any Japanese kiwis, is a retainer the same thing as a samurai or are the westerners just being retarded?

D-DID YOU KNOW THERE WAS A BLACK SAMURAI??!! A HECKING BLACK DUDE BECAME A SAMURAI DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU???!!

When are these fuckers gonna shut up about Yasuke the nigger?
Never. They're well on their way to making Yasuke the most well known 'samurai' in western consciousness.
Also the Way of the Samurai games.
God I miss that franchise. Such good music, too.

The way you can tell woke shit comes from the top on down and is being pushed by the elites is how despite woke movies bombing, despite woke TV shows getting terrible ratings, despite them losing tons of money they continue to be made no matter what. That's how you know something far more sinister then just "We want more black people in video games!" is going on.

Yasuke was never more than a page. He was never a "samurai"

Oda Nobunaga saw him as a wonderful curiosity and made much of him, it was literally Nobunaga going HOREEE SHIT THIS DUDE IS LITERALLY FUCKIN BLACK THAT'S SO CRAZY GIB HIM TO ME MR. MISSIONARY MAN and the missionary did. Nobunaga had a fascination with weird gaijin stuff. Then after a while as Nobunaga's pet he gained Nobunaga's respect to some degree so Nobunaga made him a page. Not a samurai. He was Nobunaga's gofer. He carried Nobunaga's swords around so they'd always be available when the shogun wanted them. Which was an honorable position yeah but that alone didn't make a man a "samurai." Then Akechi betrayed Nobunaga

When Nobunaga seppuku'd himself because Akechi betrayed him, Yasuke fled to Nobunaga's son who was nearby. Akechi's forces attacked Nobunaga's son simultaneous to attacking Nobunaga, his son also seppuku'd and his household was captured by Akechi soldiers. Yasuke was captured too. This all happened on the same day, June 21 1582. Akechi (who hated Nobunaga's fascination with gaijin shit) said okay enough is enough get this black gaijin outta here and Yasuke was sent back to the Jesuit missionaries

@DoomsdayElite hit the nail in the head. At best Yasuke was a clown for Nobunaga and his men to laugh at, at worst he was his pet monkey. The man was no legend, he was just another nigger and niggers like him are dime a dozen.

White\Asian\Iranian history all belong to black people apparently. i wish at least they were consistent in "we just want accuracy" john wayne portraying Genghis was apparently a sin but you can actually just say historical figures were black when they werent. and theyre so smug, theyre just outright saying they dont give a single shit what an actual japanese person has to say on the issue. its this weird colonial mindset but by proxy. i guess white guilt doesnt extend to bombing nips because there wasnt as many psyops.

I’d argue that the last 60 years at least has had a certain parties trying to create popular myths about black people in order to make one Myth for them. I think it’s partially based on trying to make the foundational Myth of the US about slavery or some shit, but I honestly just think it’s Gay banker Jews.

Ghosts of Tsushima just released on PC. Not to mention other samurai games like Samurai Warriors and Like a Dragon: Ishin. There's literally no reason to look forward to this. Especially when Assassin's Creed lost its charm after the Ezio trilogy.
There has been a huge influx of samurai games, like Rise of the Ronin. What honestly makes this game any different from the rest other than Ass Creed and Yasuke?

Of all of the Japanese from Japanese history, they pick this. Imagine having this much disrespect for a people and culture, while still acting like anyone who notices is the problem. They know how long and much people have been wanting this.. this is all intentional.

The media and industry OC running in screeching about straight white men, when everybody is complaing about the fact that they chose not to include a Japanese character in a game based in historic japan. It is beyond the point of being able to hide the agenda.. of course they still will.

Think about the optics and tone-deafness of this. A black guy running around historic Japan murdering native Japanese!

Also the Japanese/Asian "there were always black people there" begins formally any day now.. It's intentional controversies like this that usually kick off efforts. Soon will have a bunch of pompous western white "academics" telling Japanese how their history and demographics went.

Clown world clowns on!
