I’d say it has to do with the repub electorate getting fed up with RINOs constantly being pushed on them. There is no enthusiasm for yet another neocon who will inevitably put America last while handing out gimmedats to other countries.

That is beyond optimistic. There are, what, maybe 20 good Republican Congressmen, if that? Maybe 10 good Republican Senators, if that? What you're hoping for will take more than two years to accomplish. It will take at least 20 years of trial and error and would require the grassroots to be constantly engaged and ready to uproot the weeds when necessary

'MAGA' is just an easy to use catch-all term for that type of conservative populism. It's had many other names (The Tea Party, for example) and has existed before Trump, and it will continue to exist after him

The Tea Party if I recall was more Libertarian-leaning in principle at least initially. It was populist and generally grassroots in nature (with some big corporate backers) and generally sought fiscal restraint on how the government spent money.

Retrospectively thinking about it 14 years later, a part of the Tea Party's energy and agenda were absorbed into the Republican Party but at the same time other things relating to it weren't. A lot of the populist discontent and desire to change the status quo from it is still around but the more libertarian ideas it advocated for did not get very far.

These are the 10 agenda items for the "Contract from America", a political manifesto that had many Tea Party supporters in its day.



To say the least, not much of that has been implemented in the U.S. as of 2024.

The Biden campaign is desperate. Their candidate is woefully behind in the polls so they are allowing Joe to debate in the hopes that somehow he will prevail over Trump. To make that happen they’ve made sure there is no audience, and the forum is CNN, a Democrat stronghold, with Jake Tapper as the moderator.

I’ve had my run-ins with Jake before. He’s a far-left kook and a liar who possesses a mediocre talent for cartooning and a mediocre but very vindictive mind. He will do his best to make Trump look bad and prop up Biden.

Joe wants the first debate to occur ahead of the Democrat Convention—perhaps to keep his party from replacing him. How his party must wish Gavin Newsom could be debating Trump instead. Newsom lies just as much as Biden, but he’s much smoother with his delivery. Biden is, as Trump has said, a moron—and he has been that way well before he grew old and infirm.

Biden claims he won the previous debates with Trump—another obvious lie from Sleepy Joe, and a risible one at that.

The only way Biden can do well is if they rolled a body double with a communication device stuck in his ear, thus allowing the handlers to feed him accurate facts and figures.

Regardless, expect Trump to crush the confused octogenarian. Bingo!

Trump is also old yet younger than Biden and still sharper and will be fine, but no one will give him enough credit.
There will be no large knockouts.

Its not going to change anyones mind, but everyone on TV and journo columnists will be wringing their hands about age and dignity of the office. I can already see the lines: "Ive watched this argument play out in a retirement home before," "Two elderly men make the case for who should lead an uncertain nation," etc.
