I have to admit I was never in that group.
My education specifically treated transsexualism as a paraphilia and recommended psychiatric care. Homosexuality, pedophilia, coprophilia and more were included in the same category. I was likely the last generation who saw those psychiatry manuals before they got jannied away, and everything that happened after that confirmed that they were true, even with the heavy political bias of the anti-Western communist era, where what was accepted in the US was bourgeoise deviancy.
The acceptance and tolerance shit is nearly always Western, and look what it brought us.
