FYI, recruiting assignments are the worst imaginable. Typically, an NCO is forced into a drill sergeant or recruiter to "broaden" their experience. Both suck ass, but recruiting is far, far worse since it's all about meeting metrics and doing cheesy shit like this. Now imagine being assigned to a location that doesn't have a typical recruiting pool.

Supposedly it's an issue California, in general. I just moved to the state (as I'm favored by God) and that was a primary theme when I was house hunting. It's never been a concern everywhere else I've lived.

Um, I'm a former zogbot and the only thing I can see here being accurate is the recruiters wanting to get out and stay stateside.

After you finish your mos training, you don't get to choose what you do. You might get an offer for this or this. But you don't get to choose if you're a di, you also aren't choosing to be a recruiter.

Both of those are assigned positions and require a specific rank. Everyone knows being a recruiter is the shit bag job. The only people put there are shit bags and people getting ready to retire. Not "buck broken" or whatever. That's extra nonsense added for flavor.

Depends on the branch. E1-E4 (enlisted) and O1-O3 (officer) are pretty much automatic. Army enlisted is a variation of going to a promotion board (basically an interview in front of 3-4 senior NCOs) and points, derived from PT scores , awards, random bullshit, etc. The required points are for each MOS (job) and updated every month.I think E7 and above is congressional and no idea about officers.

One of the reasons that technically-oriented people leave are due to PT scores being heavily weighted whereas technical competence isn't even considered.
