Yes and no. What they deliberately chose was surgery to create a 100% true and valid vagina indistinguishable from the real thing, with no complications. The problem is no such thing exists, and they also deliberately chose not to believe evil transphobic lies about the surgery. I actually feel genuinely sorry for anybody getting "bottom surgery". I feel like far fewer people would get it if the surgeons described the risks accurately:

I’ve seen a ton of females on testosterone say they had no idea that it could cause vaginal atrophy and that was after the “informed consent” This is so much worse.

I only glance at r/transgender_surgeries occasionally, but nothing there looks like recognizable human anatomy. This man in particular didn't even meet with his surgeon for a pre-op appointment.

... of the closet. I made some uncomfortable phone calls and blew up my Facebook feed last Saturday.
I think my parents are still processing, but I received an outpouring of positivity from my friends. The kids have taken it in stride and things are better than ever with my wife (she's known since May).
This space definitely helped while I was staying under the radar.

He has a responsibility to be the father to his kids; he should be playing catch with them in the yard. Instead he's mutilated himself, and openly talking of suicide while his kids are still young (he's about 42.) Hell, he's not even thinking about what all this has done to his kids; I can't imagine what they are going through watching their father be hospitalized for weeks at a time.
