I read Japanese wives typically want to be on equal footing. And typically have the husbands hand over all money made, which they then give an "allowance" to husbands from.

This used to be common in the uk. Good husbands would give the wage packet to the wife and good wives would dole back a small amount to go to the pub with and pay the rest to keeping the family afloat. Once again, I fail to understand their logic with promoting NSFW material, yet complain when somebody depicts provocative women THEY don't like. Those companies or payment processors aren't their friends; they were merely caving to their pressure in fear of losing sales. Now, those companies are realizing that allowing such content is isolating other potential users.

As someone who made the mistake of taking some liberal "social science" courses in university, I did learn one interesting fact: the modern ideas of race were largely codified in the late 18th century by this man: Carl Linnaeus. Before that, when European explorers made contact with Japanese or other East Asians in the 1500s, they described them as being "white" or "white people" solely because of their light skin (there's a book called "Becoming Yellow" discussing this). In fact, I believe ancient Japanese texts said that Japanese people should have skin"white as snow" (you will never this discussed by racist liberals who push "critical race theory"). And you can see what colour the Japs use to depict their skin in older paintings. The idea of them being Yellow/Mongoloids/Orientals came later.

Bonus points: during the early days of European exploration in the Philippines, some Spanish missionaries dubbed an ethnic group native to Southeast Asia as the Negritos, which literally means "Little Black People" due to their dark skin and kinky hair. In modern day, Negritos are largely forgotten or "marginalized".
