TGWTG Nostalgia Chick / Lindsay Ellis / TheDudette - aka Hotdogs in face girl

She didn't even get cancelled, I dunno why people keep repeating that. She got ratio'ed and didn't like her own medicine
They went after her pretty hard, dude. She went into social media exile for a while, released a long “I’ll do better” video which explains she couldn’t be racist because her and a friend were raped. Also that the ugly chick who played Matilda didn’t like her.

I don’t think any important breadtubers went after her but there was blood in the water and those fuckers would have fed in a swarm if she hadn’t fucked off.

Also one of first things she did when she came back was through the sword lady who used to be her friend under the bus again for not sucking girl dick. That was the point were I lost any sympathy and she hadn’t learned a thing.

She avoided destruction but it was by quite a narrow margin.

'Pretty hard' is not the same as being cancelled. She didn't get fired from anything, she didn't get book deals cancelled (even though, yes, her book deal really should be fucking cancelled), people gave her more Patreon money than ever, she didn't get speaking engagements cancelled and big media whores still asked to interview her about her exile from social media and whether or not cancel culture has gone too far.

All that happened was a not insignificant number of people, who hated her anyway but for various reasons never expressed it, came out and told her she was a cunt, and she bawwed, went DFE and went off twatter for a while

To Lindsay’s circle, any pushback is akin to a cancellation. How else can you explain all the groveling after the shit went down?

Again, to her it was probably a cancellation, or an attempt at it. And she went on an apology tour and she used her connections to wax intellectual about how she couldn’t realize she could have also been sent to the metaphorical execution platform.

How narrow are we talking?

Yes but words mean things and by strict definition what she experienced was not a 'cancellation'.

Take a recent example: Ed Piskor. Two hoes came out and accused him of being a creeper, so an art gallery 'postponed' an exhibition of his work costing him revenue, his co-host on his YouTube channel cut ties with him, and he fucking killed himself. Nothing like that happened to Lindsay. She pretends that it did because she's nothing if not a cunt and, like the crybully she is, she'll do anything to trawl for sympathy if she ever gets the slightest bit of pushback

Don't fall for it

I don’t think anyone here ever fell for it. Most I’ve seen was laughing and gasping in shock at the woe is me theatrics Lindsay was doing.

she cancelled her dumbass self.

all that shit she was supposedly cancelled for, would've blown over...social media and her followers got ADHD/don't care enough.

that mask off video was worse...she brought up shit no one cared about or shit everyone forgot about, only to try and redeem herself.
Honestly, I think it’s gotten to the point nobody even remembers what she said about Raya.

I feel like it was more of an excuse to leave, than being pushed out. She had been whining for years over the fact that she's seen as a youtuber instead of a documentarian, film maker or author. Her cancellation was the perfect opportunity to make a clean break and focus on her books rather than continuing the channel. The problem is, as she quickly found out, outside of her channel no one gives a shit about her. She's a terrible fiction writer, her videos aren't interesting enough to give her a position beyond working behind the scenes for the Kardashians, and buying awards and a spot on the New York Times Bestseller list doesn't equate to sales.

If Nebula kicks her to the curb, or goes under, she'll come back and try to pretend nothing happened because she has nothing, and now has two kids to feed. Unless hubby really is a millionaire.

I think she initially fucked off in the hopes she wasn’t going to get canceled but when she found that none of her simps or Breadtube crowd took her to task, she realized she could just do whatever she wants and that was that. Still pulling in a nice six figure income for putting in absolutely no effort, a nice gig if you can get it.

The lady who was cancelled by Lindsay and her mob is (probably) selling more books by self-publishing than Lindsay is with a big publisher. Maybe karma does exist after all. (Or maybe Lindsay is just that shit at writing)
Can I get the background for the highlighted part?

Holy shit, I know that guy!

He's an editor over at Baen Books who pushed real hard for them to aquire the Hanuvar series by Howard Andrew Jones, one of the authors driven from St. Martin's by the aftermath of the Ellis deal.

I even told him her sales numbers at a convention once. He just laughed. "I'll be sure to buy her a drink someday, I got a Christmas bonus because of her!"

Ironically, he also set up some kind if partnership between Jill Bearup and Baen... they passed on her book but she has an open invitation to submit something more on brand.

Publishing's a pretty small world, but that level of shit talking about Ellis in the open is to be commended. Plus, that Hanuvar series is spectacular.
