There seems to be a misunderstanding. then. When I hear "story retcon," I interpret it as something which doesn't align with preestablished lore which interferes with the stories of earlier games or later games. This is a rewrite, not a retcon.

You seem to be under the impression that I welcome this change, and I do not. I consider the writing inferior because of these edits to the game's dialogue and characters.

I meant “major dialogue changes” and “[non-major] story changes”, but I can see how the wording could have been better; sorry. But as for those dialogue changes, it’s not just a few lines, but a bunch of stuff throughout the entire game like the aforementioned Vivian (which I’d consider a story change because it alters character motivations and backstory, plus most of the dialogue that she’s involved in)/Hooktail/Goomba trio changes. Some changes are purely political, some are unpopular changes to reflect the original Japanese version (like Hooktail’s weakness being changed from frogs to crickets then back to frogs), others are made for seemingly no reason like the Shadow Sirens being renamed to the Three Shadows. Even the tiniest things have to be changed like Bowser no longer calling Kammy an airhead since that’s too sexist or something. It’s a death by a thousand cuts situation, and not something that can easily be overlooked by someone familiar with the original.

maybe it's a case of video game manufacturers catering to their market and their market at this point are just troons because trannies are the only people that would spend money on this bullshit. I could tell you I haven't bought a new video game since BFV came out and I regret buying it. Between life and the current state of the industry I doubt I'll be buying anything new except for the odd copy of a game that's been out for years or the odd indi game if on the rare chance it's not a pozzed piece of crap.

The other reason is like another poster said, a lot of game devs are activists or in the bed with them so combined with that it just doesn't paint a very fun picture on the current state of gaming and precisely why I've lost interest long ago, I just wish one of the few things I was interested in didn't have to be pozzed

That's not how it works. If that person bought it, Nintendo already got the money from that copy. Piracy is the only option in this case. Unfortunely I'm not ready yet to mod my switch since I don't like that RCM mode that involves using a paperclip and MigSwitch is being scalped everywhere. I'll just use Ryujinx.

I see the magypsies in M3 already got brought up so I'll just say thank fuck that game never got officially localized. They'd probably rewrite the entire arc with Fasaad and his denial of his identity too given how mad transpeople seem to get about him when it's pointed out that his entire arc involves around him modifying his body to unrecognizability and not being able to find happiness with the result.

Mother 3's fan translation will probably end up being better than any garbage localization Treehouse could churn out, anyway. It's been a very long time since I played the game, but I definitely recall a fair amount of content that Treehouse would absolutely gut if they got their hands on it.

The RCM method sucks, and it's risky. You can fry your switch if you're not careful. I want something like Luma3DS or Aroma but for the Switch even if I have to wait years for it.
