Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

Wait.. There are still people that actually believe Kill La Kill was actually secretly a commentary on fanservice?
I always thought that was something that lived and died on Tumblr as a way to justify liking the new thing that was 80% fanservice.

Since its clear this is made with actual respect to the source material rather than an attempt to replace it like what TFS does
Maybe a little too much respect. I still tend to groan anytime they stop momentum dead to exposit powerwank.
And Crow is still a little too full of himself, since he wouldn't get an actual VA for Gilgamesh and instead kept with using his own deadpan affect to voice him.
God only knows how the weebs feel about their decision to make a fan cover of Brave Shine.

I still think this is repeating the issue of latestage TFS and also SWEAbridged with how they feel less like parody and more like misled demo reels that haven't gotten it drilled into their skulls that the Guild does not accept performances in abridged parodies as demo reels.
Although as I say that, I'm pretty sure the guy who voiced Johnny Black for SWE got to voice Vassago for the actual SAO dub, so the hell do I know.

I mean they also got the TFS crew to be voice actors, though they don't do much anime stuff anymore. Like lately a lot of people who did work doing abridged, parody, or comic dubs ended up getting official voice acting gigs.

Though yeah it is annoying how an abridged series can get too serious, but it's better than just shitting on the source material while making disclaimers to "support" it, like that's just sending mixed messages at that point.

It sucks to be a fan of Hellsing Ultimate

They poked the hornet's nest way too much in 2017. It's been said a million times, but it seems a million more are necessary: Teamfourstar's insistence on monetizing their content to the point of making merchandise off their legally-dubious ventures earned them Toei's wrath, and the core members (KaiserNeko, Lanipator, Takahata101, MasakoX) got greylisted if not fully blacklisted from the Guild and wider dubbing industry.
I'm still extremely glad for and proud of Megami33, JBriner, Sarah Ann Williams, kinda sorta Nowacking (ugh) and especially GeneralIvan and Amber Lee Connors (lol, her old username was Shudo Ranmaru) for breaking into the industry in spite of their work with TFS.

I'm still sad that Project Mouthwash got fucked over by Toei too many times to finish their Digimon Tri abridged series. Though I kinda wonder if they were just getting too close to predicting what actually ended up happening in the series despite it all being a joke.

But it might also be because they did the characters leagues better than what the actual movies themselves did.

episode 8 of The Train to the End of the World was confusing but in an entertaining way
all of it was referencing japanese things or specific shows i don't know about so it felt like a fever dream

Broke down and asked /wsr/ for an anime rec. They offered me Shin no Nakama, aka "Banished from the Hero's Party". Did anyone here watch it?
Very generic not-isekai-but-also-isekai stuff. I sort of liked parts I guess but I didn't give enough of a shit about any of the characters to bother with season 2.

The leads have good chemistry, but otherwise nothing too special.

I watched the first season which was good, had an interesting take on how people's blessings can be detrimental.

I'm mixed on The Fable's anime.

On one hand it's incredibly cheap, characters are constantly off model in cuts, really weird action scenes where it's clearly sped up to shit and is just overall a bit ugly and rushed. That whole rotoscoped part was ridiculous to watch considering how jarring it is compared with the rest.

On the other hand I feel like the voice cast carries it and they actually pulled off a few neat jokes with the anime medium.

It's a shame but honestly it could have been way worse and I'm enjoying it.

This might just be a bait and switch, but if Fojo really comes back then it will be the definite proof that gege doesn't give a shit at all.
>Departed spirit
Doubt he's being brought back in the sense his weirdo fanbase wants. At most he shows up as a force ghost, finishes off the bad guy, then turns to the protagonist and smiles as he departs for the afterlife. That's my guess as someone who read maybe 10% of the manga as well as the chapter where he gets gloriously killed offscreen.

My personal guess is Sukuna is stroking out and sees the ghost of Gojo while he's dying.

Though for all I know the author of JJK really got threats from the Taliban cause back when he died, Gojo fangirls tried to contact them.

Seems like generic Magical Girl show and Shogi (which is just overly complicated Chinese Chess). I laughed when they showed a Pear of anguish.

The Train to the End of the World is anime of the season for me. It does the one thing that most media fucks up which is to have a group of friends acting like real life friends with real viciousness coming in occasionally. The weird shit happening every episode and the banger OP is a plus.
