I really don't think a couple lines is enough to ruin the entire remake. There are a lot of genuinely good upgrades here, besides the disappointing translation choice. I don't care how unpopular that is to say on here. I don't entirely avoid a piece of media because it may have a couple small flaws. I just think both sides of this kerfuffle are making a mountain over a molehill. I just want to play video games and this isn't a major enough thing for me to get angry over, at least for me.

Curious, was the RPG remake bad in the English translation?

As far as I'm aware, it was a straight improvement. It corrected a handful of major translation errors such as some enemies or characters being given generic or incorrect names, like the mouth of an enemy inexplicably being called a "neosquid." Even the more suggestive jokes like being able to find the princess's "???" was kept in.

I'm sure there were some weird changes here and there, but it was almost entirely faithful. There's not many people upset that a character doesn't name drop Bruce Lee.

I don't agree with that. In the trailers you can see Nintendo added a lot of extra lighting and other various effects that is probably pretty taxing on the Switch's hardware. You have to remember, the Switch is basically just an upgraded Xbox 360/Playstation 3. They probably decided the 30fps was a tradeoff worth making so the game could hit closer to 1080p. I do wonder if they'll patch it once the Switch successor comes out, though.

Nintendo wanted to remake the game with the troon icon in it because it has more sales and youtube videos on it get more views.

Pretty sure that's also why Nintendo skipped Partners in Time and went straight for Bowser's vore story.

I'd say the graphics in the first game are just fine, only real things that need updating are the combat system and increased badge points
however I don't think that will ever happen now, so we can just hope an inevitable pc port will bring it to the light, already been some impressive and promising romhacks even before the decomp
