Sony hate thread

I think a 3rd revision and redoubling their efforts could've really salvaged Vita.
Even then, the best it could have hoped for was being an also-ran up against the 3DS. Sony was never going to compete against Nintendo in the handheld market. The smartest thing Microsoft ever did was not even attempt to do so.

I need to throw up seeing Soyder-Man 2 above Stellar Blade.

All except the very first revision. With PSPgo you could dunk it in a dock and sync a DualShock 3, it's actually a great experience.

Vita 1000 has this "mystery port" which many speculated was for a dock but was never used for anything.
That makes it an even more strange omission. I didn't know there was a dock too, interesting.

If they did it correctly from the start they could've. PSP sold nearly as much as 3DS, so an even better successor doing everything right should at least have matched 3DS in sales.

The UK market is whatever the latest FIFA release is anyway.
It is right there on top. The FIFA license was dropped, so it's just called EA FC now.
You can take solace knowing that the chart is UK data, so the Brits having absolutely abhorrent taste shouldn't be too surprising.
And there, proving the point that britbongs only like kicking a ball on a yearly basis.

It was stipulated that it was for TV out. Someone found the same cable connector on a Sony Camera and when he plug it in, the Vita he had in developer mode recognised it, but it didn't do anything with it. That functionality could have came on a patch later on for consumer units but who knows at this points.

The sales figures are inflated because spidermon 2 is bundled with every ps5. The cheapest, and most of the time the only option, to buy a PS5 comes with SM2. It makes me laugh when you see the sony fans tout sm2 as a success. "look it sold 20 million!" with 10 million+ being bundles.

The PS5 is Schrodinger's console, they're hard to get a hold of, and when you can get one, they don't sell (missed sales targets). It has no games and when it does nobody buys them (shitty attach rate).

I believe it's also one of the strongest markets for Xbox too or it at least use to be.
Still is. That said, both Sony and Microsoft aren't really as relevant in the UK, and the same in the US

Nah, people forget but for the first year or so of the 3DS being out, it was also kind of in the shitter. The original model had an abysmal battery life, the screen didn't look that good, and people mostly just ignored the 3D gimmick. There were also almost no games. That's how I ended up with a Vita actually - Vita had a better lineup in its first year of life.

I'm not sure the Vita's success would have been more likely had the 3DS failed but the 3DS's ascendancy was certainly not guaranteed. It took Nintendo waking the fuck up and pumping out games while improving the hardware for it to really take off (iirc the XL is still the best-selling 3DS model). I think that's actually a big reason why they've been (allegedly) holding off on Switch 2 until the games to sell the thing are done.

That's mainly because of its higher price than the original and lack of good games. Vita was doing just as bad, if not worse for a lot of the same reasons. Once Nintendo ameliorated those issues, the Vita never really had a chance.

Wait, a pre-order for a game that will release in six months is the PS5 best seller? If this is true, they just nuked Sony to burn YellowFlash?
I believe Suicide Squad was also a "best seller" during preorders and we all know how that game did financially. According to the website, the "best sellers" chart updates hourly and all the other games on that chart have already come out. There is a premium edition of Elden Ring that includes the base game and DLC but like half their country bought the base game last year, so there's no reason to buy a bundle that includes the base game again.

Meanwhile if you look at the big electronics retailers that Japanese buy games at, it isn't doing so hot.
  • Bic Camera has the game at #5
  • Yamada Denki has it at #15
  • Yodobashi has it at #29
If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if Ubisoft or a bunch of fags ordered on Amazon JP, a tactic often employed by many entertainment companies to make their product look like its doing well. Amazon JP would make perfect sense to be the site to be astroturfed since Amazon is well known in the West and the site automatically translates to English for Westerners accessing the site. Meanwhile a lot of the Westerners have likely never heard of the other JP retailers.

Games from Japan are cheaper and the cost of shipping internationally is fair on Amazon Japan -- most big games in Japan have English on disc these days and consoles are now region free.

It is appx $48USD plus shipping right now.

That's why its high on Amazon JP and not elsewhere.

I use this one weird trick a lot for Switch physicals.

Ah yes, the classic "I'm paying for my WoW sub in Argentinian Monopoly Money".

Neil Druckmann says new Naughty Dog title ‘could redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming’

“There’s a growing appreciation for gaming that transcends all age groups, unlike when I was growing up. This shift is highlighted by our venture into television with The Last of Us, which I hoped would bridge the gap between gamers and non-gamers.
“I’m eager to see how this new game resonates, especially following the success of The Last of Us, as it could redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming.”
