Covert Narcs don't have hobbies. They go from one thing to another to assimilate to what they think others are into around them
It’s as good as explanation as I’ve ever heard for his behavior. I’ve always found the fact he was dedicated family, church, homeschool guy, to the point only Christian music was allowed in the car seven years ago, to being a Dick Masterson fanboy to Mr LawTubes interwebs to drunk MDMA hedonist swinger comedian very bizarre.
Adolescents and teens swing through identity shifts like this, but not adult men in their 40’s. It’s well beyond mid-life crisis behavior.
The booze, fame and drugs certainly turbo charged the issues, but there’s something fundamentally broken with a guy that can be pulled into two polar opposite extremes, as an adult, within the space of six years. Might have been bizarre, but navigable and survivable, if not for the alcohol abuse.
By the time Nick was streaming I think he was tired of being the Christian family man and wanted a different persona and fanbase. But the only thing that made him stand out from all the other Dick show ball hangers was the fact that he was a lawyer and had a large family, those two traits were unique and drew a much larger audience to him. A much larger audience that wasn’t just part of the general degenerate LA comedian fan base circle. Before he knew it he was attracting the wine moms, Dads that own homes in flyover country and sad fellas that paid him to drink toasts to dead relatives.
When he was at his zenith after the Depp trial I was surprised to still see him jumping into sector drama, beefing with Ethan Ralph, etc… He resented the big normie audience he had drawn to his streams and started to do everything possible to alienate them after a while. He was absolutely told by Rumble, and others, to lean into the conservative Minn lawyer and homeschool dad persona and inject more political commentary and Cultivate a cult of personality and community via Locals. This infuriated him. They could not see the genius of Nick and were trying to box him in and control him!
He seems to share a lot of traits with Elijah Schaffer. I’ve always wondered what went down at The Blaze when Nick went on Schaffer’s show and hung out with him. They both seemed to purposely sabotage Nick’s appearance by making in-jokes and off-color shit that most of the audience wouldn’t get. Nick seemed eager to pull Elijah in esoteric sector drama he didn’t quite understand.
Elijah effectively torpedoed his entire career and alienated everyone, much like Nick, but with less booze and more homosexuality. I think Schaffer is still hardcore Christian grifting so maybe that caused a wedge between them. But both of them seemed convinced the big money corporate platforms were holding them back. Funny to see where both have ended up since Gunt was dancing for them in a black cowboy hat. They haven’t fallen as low as the Gunt, but given where both were two years ago they have definitely fallen much further given the heights they were at. Gunt just fell from the curb into the sewer, Nick and Elijah swan dived from a 30 story building.
Nick Rekieta no doubt sees himself as another F. Lee Bailey and if he does, he's wrong. Unlike Rekieta, Bailey was one of the finest legal minds in the country. Bailey could also hold his liquor.
Strongly disagree. Patty Hearst was kidnapped, locked in a closet, brutally, repeatedly raped and after months of that she did the bidding of the crazies that tortured her. He couldn’t Hearst off bank robbing charges after the living hell she endured? Pfft. Bailey lost cases that should have been won.
Bailey was an over-hyped grifter. He just used the “brand name” and fame to convince people he was a top tier lawyer when he was a mediocre lawyer but a top tier grifter and very, very good at using the media to create a myth around himself. His use of the media to create a brand and myth about himself was his greatest skill, not his legal chops.
