I'm betting the call to the cops came via concerns over Rekieta's kids. Children living in dysfunctional homes and placed under enormous stress for extended periods of time don't hide it well. They act out or become increasingly withdrawn. Neighbors and neighborhood kids would notice. All it takes is one anonymous call. This would in turn bring official focus on the Rekieta household. A curious CPS social worker googles Rekieta's name and catches one of his more recent drug-addled and alcoholic streams... and busted.

Because he's a drug addict and alcoholic deep in his disease, Rekieta will probably try to lawyer his way out of this rather than getting honest and seeking recovery. His wife looks absolutely wrecked in her mugshot. Imagine how she's going to feel when the fog clears in one or two days and realizes the State now has absolute control over her relationship with her children.

I'm a recovering drunk so I know what it feels like to lose everything. The good news is I also know what it feels like to get sober and get it back, so you never know. Maybe these incredibly fucked-up people will step away from the edge, get clean and sober, and turn their lives around. One can hope.

Bud, both parents are in jail. Bare minimum they're getting some court ordered time with grandma. Even if Nick &co. beat all charges his next 3-9 months are fucked and he's out like $250k in legal fees.
