Introduction: Meet Fat Alex!

Lookin' smug after gastric bypass surgery
Fat Alex will be well-known to those who frequent the Deathfats General thread. She’s been chugging along (fatly) for years, but she’s been churning out content and attracting increased criticism. There's already a devoted subreddit, and she's discussed extensively on Guru Gossip. If her behavior seems familiar, it may be because Amberlynn Reid has been copying her mannerisms for years.
Fat Alex is an apex consumer with the typical cow tendency to simultaneously overshare and lie. She's got an overbearing mother who supports and enables Alex's questionable decisions. She's had multiple failed weight-loss and cosmetic procedures, and she's not truthful about them (until she has to be). She shills products at every opportunity and self-promotes shamelessly. She's had multiple weight loss-related procedures-- but continues to gain weight (and lie about it). Her cow-ish behavior has gone into overdrive with her pregnancy announcement, prompting observers to take a deeper dive into her antics, past and present.
Alex is on seemingly every social media platform in existence. She's very online, very beige, very stupid-- and proud of it.
Part 1: Background
Fat Alex is a 31 year old social media influencer originally from Massachusetts. She currently lives with her husband Yarmayn Rodriguez in the home they purchased at 165 Mystery Farms Drive in Cranston, Rhode Island.
As body positivity advocate, she gained notoriety for lying to her followers about having a tummy tuck, claiming instead that her fat apron disappeared as a result of fitness and weight loss:

More recently, she was catapulted into the spotlight by the revelation that she was supporting her convicted pedophile father by sending letters to the judge asking that he drop her father’s probation conditions. In these letters, she showed complete indifference to his victim, her own adopted stepsister. More about that in Part 6.
Part 2: Youth
This deceitful, greasy spawn of psycho plagiarist Nancy Thomas and convicted pedophile Rodger Allen Thomas burst into the universe on Christmas Eve 1992 in Massachusetts. Rodger and Nancy divorced when Alex was three, and Rodger beat a hasty retreat back to Florida (where his family lived). After that, he had no contact to speak of with either of them. After Roger left, Nancy and Alex developed a very unhealthy mother/daughter BFF relationship. Nancy coddled and indulged Alex, resulting in the forever toddler we have now. Alex cannot take accountability for any of her failures or lies. When life gets too hard, she just drops out. She morphs into the personality of whoever her BFF is at the time, adopting all their mannerisms. Nothing about her is genuine. Despite having numerous attempts at formal education, all her “knowledge” comes from either Nancy or TikTok. Whenever she can’t perform a task, she immediately FaceTimes Nancy or searches for a solution on TikTok. She is socially retarded and uneducated.
The memories Alex recounts of her childhood and youth are all centered on food, whether it be Friday night restaurant dinners with Nancy, breakfasts with Santa in elementary school, or donuts at her farm stand job. Alex attributes her weight gain to Nancy (and Nancy's then-boyfriend) opening a café when Alex was in 5th grade. The temptation of being surrounded by food was just too much for Alex, and Nancy had no ability to say “no” to her BFF/daughter. A few years later, in 2008, Alex claims in the video “Draw My Life” that “something really unfortunate happened to my father."
The “unfortunate thing” was that her father was charged with 9 counts of sexual assault of Alex’s 15 year old adopted stepsister. He was convicted of “Sexual battery of a minor without regard to the willingness or consent of the victim - 3 counts.” (Adjudication date 23/05/2008, Court Case Number 061728 ) and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment. Alex has never publicly acknowledged the depravity of his acts and instead exhibits a victim mentality. According to her, the real tragedy is that, because he could no longer pay child support, Nancy lost the café and house, forcing her and Alex to move into her mother’s home.
Part 3: Education, work, and relationships
Alex went to a standard elementary school, but, at some stage, Nancy took over her education and homeschooled her. Later, she attended Worcester College in Massachusetts, where she majored in Urban Studies. She claims she chose that course because it was the course her favorite teacher taught. When her teacher left, Alex dropped out also. She then convinced Nancy to let her go to cosmetology college. You’ve probably guessed that she became a beauty school dropout. Dropping out is her educational modus operandi. She excused this by saying she wanted to “concentrate on her YouTube channel.” At present, YouTube is her only job.
Work history
Her first job was working at a farm stand at age 16. She was still working there five years later. She was working there in 2010 when she met her first love, a Jamaican seasonal worker. When he returned to Jamaica, she took time off college and flew there for six weeks. She made two other trips to Jamaica before deciding a long distance romance wasn’t for this stage 5 clinger, claiming she was too “lonely.” The relationship ended. Alex worked part time as a plus-size model, until she fatted out of being bookable to fashion houses. That didn’t stop her from doing fashion hauls on her YouTube channel, many of them lingerie hauls.
Relationships
It was during college that she met on-again/off-again boyfriend– and eventual fiancé– Alan. He was featured openly on her YouTube channel. They eventually broke up aroundAugust/September 2018. After this breakup she moved around briefly, before returning to Massachusetts where she bought her dream family home.
Not one to give up on her love quest, Alex moved on to bachelor #3. She posted a Q&A with her new beau Yarmayn ("Yar") Rodriguez in August 2019. Yarmayn originally hailed from the Dominican Republic but eventually settled in Rhode Island. Until recently, Yar has had full-time employment but recently quit his day job. He remains part of the National Guard reserves. Alex's gestures of affection include buying Yar expensive gifts-- and, one time, a shirt with five photos of her face on it (the shirt has never been seen again). They honeymooned in the Dominican Republic, where Alex ate a lot and griped about haydurs-- shades of things to come.
Part 4 - Body Positivity Accountability Allergy
Alex told her viewers that she suddenly got fat in 5th grade when her mother bought the café. She has also said that her maternal grandmother started taking her to the gym when she was 10 years old, thus implying she was a fat kid even then.
She discusses some of these things in her rant about being "fired" from her ob-gyn because of her obesity. At timestamp 3:56, she claims she's muscular and has been since childhood, so BMI doesn't apply to her. At the 4:00 mark, she claims she's lost 110 lbs since her gastric bypass and has kept 95% of it off.
According to Alex, her mother took her to Mexico for a LAP-Band surgery when she was 16 years old. They had to go to Mexico because Alex was too young to qualify in the US. While she did lose weight with the band, she had it removed at 18 due to constant vomiting. She explained its removal by saying it “failed.” It appears that young and stupid Alex didn’t understand at the time that that is how the LAP-Band works to stop overeating. In other words, it was actually doing its job, but she wasn’t eating properly. Later, she changed her excuse and said she had to travel three hours each way to get fills done. The clinic would have explained maintenance to Nancy when she consented to her minor child having surgery, and the “fills” could have been done by any bariatric surgery clinic in Massachusetts. Maybe next time she could blame TikTok for not being around back then to educate her on the device she had installed on her stomach.
In 2015, Alex had a laser liposuction procedure to remove the multiple chins she had grown. She claims she was told the fat wouldn’t come back. However, her neck is now almost non-existent beneath her multiple chins that she often photoshops out of her images. Once again, she blamed the surgeons, saying that they lied to her about the chins returning. In reality, she ate those extra chins back into existence.
The chin lipo video:
In October 2019, Alex put herself under the scalpel again, this time for what she called a "plus sized panniculectomy." At that time, she was supposed to go on a trip with another fatfluencer but bailed at the last moment (and lied about why). The secret surgery was actually an abdominoplasty with naval preservation. This is when the shit really hit the fan for her: she denied having the surgery and insisted her disappearing FUPA was the result of Weight Watchers (who were sponsoring her at the time) and “targeted exercise.” Her detractors on GG were immediately suspicious.
She grudgingly came clean on 15 August 2022 and blamed her lies on her manager. She claimed he told her that she would ruin her body positive branding if she was truthful about the surgeries. It once again wasn’t her fault, even though it was her decision to lie about it.
On 18 November 2021, Alex announced she was having gastric bypass surgery. She said that she and Yar wanted to start a family, but she knew she wasn’t healthy enough to do so. So much for the HAES claim that “weight and health are not the same.”
Months earlier, she reported to a bariatric clinic with a starting weight of 389 lb. Within a year, she would claim to have reached 279 lb, for an overall loss of 110 lbs. While she claimed as recently as 19 March 2024 to have kept around 95% of that weight off, it’s clear that she has gained back over 50% of it.
Even so, in February 2023 she posted a video about her failed WLS and suggested the surgery failed her. Once again, she avoided the obvious truth: she ate and drank her way around the surgery. In fact, she did a lot of that eating and drinking on camera, and her audience noticed. More and more, people had questions about Alex's honesty.
Part 5 - Yearning to Be Famous
Alex started her YouTube channel "Learning to be Fearless" in June 2012 and currently has 2.3k videos uploaded. Her channel currently has 532k subscribers. She also has 296k followers on Instagram and 147k followers on TikTok. Her YouTube channel was initially primarily a fashion and beauty vlog with some lifestyle content thrown in for good measure. While she still makes beauty and fashion a focus, she has fatted herself out of being anything more than something to laugh at.
She is a very lazy content creator who has a checklist of content to tick off for each vlog. You’ll nearly always find a GRWM, an OOTD, a shopping haul of some description (always with affiliate links when available), some dog footage, filming while driving, posing for selfies (often in public restrooms), and poop conversation. Since the birth of her son, she's continued to create the same lazy consumerist content, now with added baby poop talk.
During Alex's pregnancy, she made "pregnant" her entire personality and mentioned being pregnant multiple times in every vlog. It was impossible to come up with a pregnancy symptom that Alex did not claim, and she always informed her viewers that she’d read about each symptom on TikTok. When not vlogging her days, Alex spends her time searching Instagram and TikTok for ideas to copy, or she’s sanitizing her comment sections, blocking people, or taking a much needed 3 hour “nap.” There isn’t an original bone in her body: everything from her content to her mannerisms is copied from other creators. She tries to come off as cute and bubbly but instead comes off as obnoxious, petulant, and self-aggrandizing. Her content made for Instagram is more sanitised and tends to be more professional to attract the sponsorships and influencer promotional gifts.
Everything about her life is performative, from her neutral dream home, to the cars (two Teslas!), and even including the pets. It’s all about the aesthetics for Alex. She’s presenting a show home for a happy family that she’s no doubt copied from other family vloggers. She’s “rehomed” several pets: a rabbit, a cat (Gracie Lou Freebush), a dog (Max), and another dog (Coco). From what we see, her adorable (current) dog Bruno is rarely walked, never played with. Instead, he’s a prop to bring cuteness into her content. While initially he had professional obedience training, it’s clear this was not kept up. His only socialization is with mother Nancy and grandmother Mimi’s dogs. Even when she does take Bruno for a performative walk on the road, she only wears slides on her feet, so we know they are not walking beyond the minute or so she records. After the birth of her son, though, she's doted on Bruno more on camera, clearly preferring his undemanding ways to those of her son, who has the audacity to have needs and wants of his own.
As for her beauty and fashion content, Alex’s face looks like it never sees cleanser and her hair is often visibly greasy. She rarely wears a supportive bra, hardly ever wears shoes other than slides (for obvious reasons), and she tries to squeeze into clothes at least two sizes too small. Her clothes are ill-fitting, and she has abominable taste. While she does occasionally go into a clothing store, she has a penchant for “dupes” (cheap, slave labour knockoffs of higher end brands) that she buys online. The majority of her hauls are from Amazon, and she always posts affiliate links. She will haul dresses and more formal wear, but it’s never seen again as she lives in leisure wear. The other clothes are victims of Amazon’s free returns policy. What she can’t easily return, she’ll sell on Nancy’s Poshmark, hoping viewers won’t see what sizes she’s really buying that she can’t fit into.
So deep is her desire for fame and adulation, Alex has made two very expensive attempts to hit the big time. The first was in 2017 when she attempted to break into the music industry and released her EP After the Storm. Do your ears a favor and don’t listen, because she’s severely lacking in talent and can’t hold a tune to save her life.

The second was her poorly produced dupe of The Bachelor TV show called Curvy Connection. It featured only plus-size contestants. The casting was appalling, and Alex was more likely interested in poaching contestants’ followers than in producing a successful show. The show was a flop, and the promise of a new season was axed shortly after.
For the past 18 months or so, Alex has made it her life’s work to become pregnant, and to ensure everyone knew of her struggles trying to conceive. During this time, she became active within the trying to conceive (TTC) community on TikTok. She announced in September 2023 that she had suffered an early term miscarriage. Needless to say, she didn't miss the opportunity to turn the miscarriage into content:
On March 18 2024, she shared the news that she was once again expecting what mother Nancy would call her “swirl” grandchild. From that day, all of her content was pregnancy-heavy (instead of just fat-heavy). The constant pregnancy content became an issue within her TTC TikTok hugbox, and they asked her if she could post content beyond pregnancy related issues. They felt she was rubbing their faces in her happiness. Her response was classic Alex: a resounding and very ugly “fuck no.” Like, a literal fuck, no:
Alex radiated obvious joy that her much-desired baby mini me daughter might be on the way. However, all was not sunshine, and there was an iconic rant that her obstetrics practice was fatphobic because her BMI was too high for that clinic.
see leaving ob-gyn video in part 4
The over-the-top pregnancy elation was short lived, though, when a NIPT test showed a Y chromosome and concluded the fetus was male. Alex started dressing in blue and even had her nails done in blue to prove to her audience just how unfazed she was. However, Alex simultaneously started searching the font of all information, TikTok, to find examples of how the chromosome test might be wrong. After finding creators who said their test results were wrong, Alex decided to try manifesting a girl. She started wearing pink every day and changed her nails to pink tips. Alas, her 20 week scan confirmed the fetus is indeed male. Excruciating "boy mom" content is doubtless in the future.
Alex's son Anderson was born on August 26, 2024. Her water broke at 35 weeks, and she had a vaginal delivery at the hospital. Baby Anderson was early but did not have to stay in the NICU. You can read a summary of her birth vlog in this post.
In the months following Alex's birth, it's become very clear that, as everyone predicted, Alex isn't cut out for motherhood. Evidence points to Yar doing the bulk of the parenting, though Alex often does drag her very young (and premature) baby to stores and restaurants with alarming frequency. If anyone points out that she might want to correct some aspect of parenting, she either deletes the comments or posts a rebuttal. She seems detached from the baby and, to no one's surprise, is fairly careless with him.
Time to tackle the grandfathers . . . and what great role models this baby boy will have!
Or not.
Part 6 - Learning to be Shameless
While no child should ever be held accountable for the sins of their parents, they can absolutely be held accountable for their reactions to those sins. Self-identified “empath” Alex is no exception. Let’s just say FetusFearless didn’t win the genetic lottery. With the exception of Nancy, who is front and centre in her daughter’s vlogs, the grandparents-to-be are not usually in Alex's perfect picture for good reason.
Hell will freeze over before Alex addresses the skeletons in her closet, because that would shatter the picture-perfect reality she is trying to project into the universe. The least-egregious grandparent is Nancy, who used another artist’s tutorials to paint watercolors that she then sold on Etsy. She got caught and appears to have stopped selling knockoff art. Did she know that you shouldn’t steal original works, or not? Who knows, but she did it, and she got caught.

While we're at it, here's a picture of Nancy with her fat spawn, so you have a picture to put with an enabling face:

Alex’s pedophile father is a whole different ballgame. Her mentions of her convicted pedophile father never acknowledge his victim-- her own then-underage stepsister. Alex even invited him to her wedding. While forums like Gossip Guru were aware of Rodger Allen Thomas’s crime, Alex was given a free pass on the issue because she did not commit the acts. However, that free pass was revoked when Alex’s letters to the judge appealing her father’s probation conditions.
The first letter was dated December 2012. In this letter, Alex referred to the situation as “a blessing in disguise.” This comment blew up her online community. It was in obvious poor taste to refer only to the “blessing” of a closer relationship with her father, ignoring the horrific crimes he committed. The second letter was dated February 2023. In this letter, specifically mentioned that he “had never put me in any harms way or ever done anything inappropriate to me or anyone I know of,” completely ignoring the fact that she’s well past his preferred age range and doesn’t have any contact with those she associates with.
Once again, she completely dismissed the sexual assaults he was convicted of. This second letter was also after her father was found guilty of breaching his probation by making online contact with the victim.
Alex also got permission for her father to leave Florida to attend her post-Covid wedding– a wedding where Yar’s young nieces were present as flower girls. Alex and Nancy take yearly mother and daughter holidays to Florida to visit Rodger, and Alex has made it clear that Infant Fearless will be included in that visit next summer, despite her father's probation conditions that forbid contact with children.
Like every narcissist, Alex has her flying monkey: her husband Yarmayn. He comes across as a cold fish, but he’s ready to do as he’s told. He’s been handsomely rewarded with cars, high end tech, a fully paid off $85k student debt, and a million-dollar home. Given his own history, it’s not surprising that Yar doesn’t want to rock the boat. Yar was raised in a tumultuous and violent household, Tragically, at three years old he witnessed the murder/suicide of his parents.
Warning: this article is a difficult read.
We can only hope that Infant Fearless has a better upbringing, but it's clear that Alex intends to plaster the child all over the internet with no respect for his privacy. It's also doubtful that she's going to be able to handle parenting-related criticism.
Part 7: Some Other Greatest Hits
Conclusion
So, what's next? We can expect Alex to continue with her habitual lies and evasions, and she'll certainly continue consuming. Many speculate that she's planning to get into family vlogging once the baby arrives. Yar appears to have quit his day job in favor of helping Alex with her content, meaning that neither parent-to-be has traditional full-time employment. Alex is gaining weight rapidly and will not shut up about "pregnancy cravings" and "pregnancy brain." Train wreck watchers are interested to see how complicated the pregnancy and delivery get, and it seems unlikely that lazy and selfish Alex is going to want to care for a needy newborn.

We can only hope that Infant Fearless has a better upbringing, but it's clear that Alex intends to plaster the child all over the internet with no respect for his privacy. It's also doubtful that she's going to be able to handle parenting-related criticism.
Part 7: Some Other Greatest Hits
- Those who frequent the Deathfats subforum are sick to death of Copilot shilling, and Fat Alex is one of the worst for this sponsorship. The ads are endless. She's done things like claim to exercise for 40 minutes, but viewers noticed that the clock revealed she'd only exercised for 15. She also blurs the face of her Apple Watch to hide how slothful she actually is.
- She ranted about a dermatologist who she said shamed her for having bad skin and for blaming it on how fat she is.
- Unsurprisingly, she can't keep friends. She lost her friend Kellie after she lied about the tummy tuck. Another friend, Gaby, dropped out of sight with no explanation.
- Bruno (the dog) is seldom walked. He was sent to doggy boot camp, but no one kept up the training. Alex sends him out to poop in the backyard and then doesn't clean up the yard.
- Alex talks about poop a lot and takes toilet selfies. Like, on the toilet, not just in a toilet.
- She has generally bad manners and eats with her mouth open on camera (a deathfat classic). She also has bad hygiene and always looks gross.
- She'll claim she's eating healthy food but only ever shows herself eating unhealthy food. She's a terrible cook, always buys junky food, and has a separate refrigerator for sodas.
- Photoshop and filters galore!
