Nick Rekieta after cleaning up, getting his kids back, and going back to a normal life.

I’m going to be honest, I always thought that Nick was a boring lolcow who was just has-been streamer with a drinking problem. These last couple of days have completely shifted my opinion on him as a lolcow.

He trainwrecked pretty hard, but he still feels like a "been there done that" in terms of internet e-celebs related to IBS.

tfw you're in jail for drug possession w/ weapons in the house due to an incident report for child abuse, but you learn they got a small amount of stuff to help with withdrawals.
I wonder if Nick is dumb enough to run up a debt with the store box dudes once he hits jail.

That’s possible but drugs and alchahil can really ruin people. I don’t think he hates his kids. He just needs to get off the drink and drugs. Oroblem is he needs help doing it which he’s not had yet.
You say that as though poor Nick has just not had the support he needs.

The man lives 2 hours from the most famous rehab in the country. It has at least outpatient options driveable for day work from his home. Rehabs in general are plentiful in MN (nevermind outpatient programs and too many therapists and substance abuse counselors to count, plus the thousands of AA and alternative addiction-rekayed groups). And Nick, unlike most, could afford to pay full board (10 years ago Hazelden was about $30k/month, pretty standard in-patidnt rates at the time).

He did not. He chose not. He heard from a million people he should, but he hasn't felt the need.

And you might be right on that. But there’s a reason why people go through rehab and come out changed.
Some do. And some come out full of vigor and bounce and gratitude. And they tell you all about it, are cowed for a little while, read the Bible or go to meetings. Then they start believing their own press or hit a bump in the road or decide they miss a party...and boom, they're arrested again, and this time they swung at a cop or wiped out a family while driving impaired - or if not the next time, then the time after that.

I have a minor theory that the people who fail are the people who never really had any depth to begin with. Sometimes lots of posturing about morals, but really not deep. Sort of congenitally oily people. So they don't have true, miraculous turnarounds, be cause they aren't deep enough for anything to stick. That is exactly who Nick is (and Kayla, too, it seems).

And ohhhhhh, the upgraded charges!
The judge said coke OR meth doe

How serious is that

Also I don’t know much about law stuff. But I’m pretty sure you get your bail money back after you go to court.
You do, though if you use a bail bond company, they usually charge you 10% of the bail amount and in turn pay the full bail. When the bail is returned, they get their amount back, but you do not get back your 10%.
What are the chances of him killing himself before the trial?

Let's be real, how likely is it he takes a plea deal down to some bullshit non-charge and skates by just fine with a large fine and some community service and maybe mandatory rehab?

There's zero shot he ever sees jail, unless I missed an update that he couldn't bail until Tuesday.
They upgraded the drug charges. 2nd degree rather than 5th, for 25+ g coke or meth, felony. Potential for up yo 25 years/ $500k fine as a max. Plus gun gross demeanor abd child endangerment gross misdemeanor.

However, even for the 2nd degree, for a first offense it's still usually a stayed sentence/conditions. The firearm and child-related charges are aggravating factors, though, mitigating against a stayed sentence. But if you negotiated for those to be dropped and go forward just on the 2nd degree drug charge, you could still get it stayed. Also, MN is a fan of house arrest and doing crazy calculations to give a ton of credit for jail time, so a lot of people spend barely any time in even if "sentenced to imprisonment" for some period of time.
100k bail for both of them together
Or ROR with conditions. Those were alternative paths to getting out.

And anyone thinking this is some kind of come to Jesus for Nick "$50k bail for a severe felony violates the 8th amendment!!!!" Rekieta is delusional.
