One Piece - I'm Gonna Be the Pirate King!

Foxy's back baby! that's all that matters! We need Davy Back fight round 2. Have foxy make contact with the Cross Guild and strip Buggy of his crew.

As for the plot kind of meandering honestly, didn't tell us anything new, just went into a few specifics, but I'm a sucker for the whole reaction shots from old characters, so not too miffed by it. Gorosei still don't seem like that big of a threat though.
 
Starting another question, who is the worst new fan/YouTuber who got into the cult of one piece on their channel.
Examples are booktuber lefties like Merphy Napier , Daniel Greene, GavinreadsitAll, Amber Alise, etc. They're the most blatant type of just repeating what the positives everybody knows in the series are, but in the most overly flamboyant and feminine lingo possible and more eye-rollingly cause they have to always reiterate how one piece is greatly written all the time.
Also, parroting the trendish things online fans dislike(the beginning being just okay, luffy vs zoro gag fight being bad, usopp is annoying, pell not dying, Thriller bark is mid, Hody jones sucks, characters they like post-timeskip not joining the strawhats) cause they're on repeat. Also making a huge deal over sonething risque or risky they don't like in the series( Sanji's pervertedness later like the spy on women dream gag and him nosebleeding, brook at first, okama portrayed positive or not, female designs posr-timeskip, animals getting hurt). Big fuckup letting these people and their followers come into the community.

Just ask them about Yamato and how that whole character is just somebody LARPing as their dead role model/idol. Even if I’m not too crazy about the whole gatekeeping thing.

Honestly, the only thing I’d say warrant a complaint would be Sanji’s chivalrous streak being unbroken because he’s that committed to what Zeff taught him, even if it means his death or his crew getting destroyed. I’d really love for a moment of him going “I’ve made a vow to never strike a lady. Forgive me, Zeff. But I find that today, I must make an exception.”. If anything, the live action series at least made it where he’s a total simp for anyone who doesn’t have a Y chromosome.


Wait, didn’t he fight some chick at Water 7 and Enies Lobby during the fight to rescue Robin?

Booktubers are a mixed bag. Personally, I judge them on voice, appreciation for the medium, ability to see and understand themes from multiple perspective and (RANT START) whether or not they will harp on about male gaze ignoring the fact that men are just as often showing their bodies for all to see. Like, we get it that Nami and Robin are showing midriff with their hourglass waists after the time skip but the men are displaying muscles just as often so zip it. As for Sanji, the man has some depth/duality to his character, being a pervert but also a gentleman who would die
before he hurt a woman(RANT OVER).

Yamato and the discussions around her gender identity is autism this fanbase had before the booktubers so we cannot pin that donkey tail on their ass.

Honestly, the biggest gear grinds happen when they look at the okama through strictly western queer coded lens. Especially the variety that sprung up the last decade in America and Portland in particular. They see things the way an American sees queerness forgeting that the author is Japanese and writes queerness from a strictly Japanese perspective which does not always line up with Western ideas and then either complain about non-existent transphobia or assume Oda subscribes to every leftist leaning cause they devoted their lives to this week.

As for the worst, I do not stick around for many videos to remember them so I will say it is a tie between all those who saw no significant growth after coverage of the series and were mostly forgotten by the One Piece fanbase.

When your first exposure to One Piece was the 4KIDS dub and it wasn't enough to scare you away, you can only come out of it loving the material deeply. Don't give it up, as they say.

Funny, I'd imagine a lot of the 4Kids watchers would spend their time atoning for watching that dub and not thinking it was shit even back then.
