Nicholas Rekieta: A non-practicing lawyer from central Minnesota previously known for drinking and explaining law (lawsplaining); now known for hedonism, drug abuse, potential child abuse, disappointing everyone, and for proving that there's really no rock bottom; you can always fall more. While he used to enjoy a pretty stellar reputation, he managed to impressively waste it all away in the last 2 years, to the point that almost nobody likes him. He is so filled up with coke and alcohol, that his brain lost literally all it's short term functions.

Repeating the same super chat thrice with three different answers:

Kayla Rekieta: A wife. Used to be hot, then she did enough drugs to look like a ghoul from fallout series. Known for convincing (allegedly) her husband into opening their relationship, which effectively ruined everything. Has an army of simps willing to defend her from every bad decision she has ever made. These people are affectionately called the "cunt guards"

April Imholte: Cheating ex wife of Nick's ex friend Aaron. Nick Rekieta's side hoe. In litigation with her own husband's ex who is seeking a restraining order against them both. Aaron filed for divorce, and they are now divorced.

Minnesota: 32nd state of the Union. 12th largest U.S. state in area and the 22nd most populous, with over 5.75 million residents. Minnesota is known as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes".

The Facts

On May 16th, 2024 a mandatory reporter reported (after four people had confided in him) in person to the police about possible child abuse at the Rekieta residence. After three more people reported him, and the Police saw the appeal stream, they applied for a warrant. On May 23rd, after getting a warrant, the Police caught Nicholas Rekieta nearby his home. He would not let them inside, and neither would his female child. The Police broke down their door with a battering ram. Inside they found his wife, his side hoe (April Imholte. Not relevant as she was set free), and four more children. The place looked unlived. The complaint describes it as "extremely cluttered. There were clothes everywhere, dirty dishes, dust and an overall dirty home." After showing the warrant to Mr. Rekieta, he threw it on the ground. After the home was searched they found:

  • Tube of cocaine and a vial of cocaine, side hoes credit cards, and used gun rounds, all in the Master bedroom. Underneath the Master bed they also found a Sig Sauer AR. There was more cocaine in the dresser. A looot of cocaine in the safe. Also ketamine. In another safe they found more cocaine, and an "Unknown Brown Substance".
  • Firearms and ammunition in the garage.
All in all they found 26.67 grams of cocaine and 8 tablets of Ketamine (as it relates to drugs)

Nicholas Rekiata proceeded to waive his Miranda rights (aka remain silent, retard, and wait for a lawyer), and was immediately arrested. His wife too. At jail they offered to forget he waived his Miranda rights. As a legal genius that he is, he proceeded to waive them again, but didn't actually say anything of importance. His wife wanted her prescription medication, but the officers refused noting that the prescription and the stuff inside did not match.

They were charged with:

  • Possession of Drugs - 2nd Degree (Possess 25 grams or more cocaine or methamphetamine). Maximum Sentence: 25 years or $500,000, or both. Offense Level: Felony
  • Unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a user of controlled substance (drugs). Maximum Sentence: 364 days or $3,000 fine or both. Offense Level: Gross Misdemeanor
  • Endangerment of a child. Maximum Sentence: 364 days or $3,000 fine or both. Offense Level: Gross Misdemeanor. The wife was charged specifically with knowingly permitting physical or sexual abuse of a child

On the 24th of May, arraignment hearing was held for both of them. Nicholas Rekieta represented himself and his wife. He wanted to represent his side hoe too, but the side hoe was released already and free. The hearings can be seen here:

They were released the same day, ordered to either a) post $50,000 bond and remain law abiding, or b) remain law abiding, not leave Minnesota without permission, not to use drugs or alcohol, submit to random testing, call in to 320-231-6222 every week, to not have guns.

On 23rd of July, April Imholte, was also charged. She was charged with cocaine (.25 grams) possession with a maximum sentence of five years in prison, $10,000 fine or both. The facts are identical to Nick and his wife's case.

The case can be followed here:
https://publicaccess.courts.state.mn.us/CaseSearch/ (case number 34-CR-24-341 (Nicholas), 34-CR-24-342 (Kayla), 34-CR-24-487 (April). Searching by name may not work)

Next hearing is on August 21st, 10:30 AM CST. The hearing concluded. Recap can be found here and here.

On the 25th of October, 2024, Nick Rekieta filed an appeal challenging the lower courts dismissal of his Franks motion. The appeal has been docketed as A24-1683. It can be accessed here https://macsnc.courts.state.mn.us/c...enance.do?csNameID=105299&csInstanceID=122116. On November 19th, the appeal was denied.

So Nick threaded the needle almost perfectly to fuck his life up.

Are there minimums to these charges btw?
