Look, I agree he's a vile piece of shit and all, but speaking generally even when served with a search warrant I can understand not wanting to assist law enforcement in any way in carrying it out. If ones legal strategy going into this is contesting the grounds of issuing the warrant in the first place then handing over the keys to your house and safe could be construed as the defendant acknowledging the validity of the warrant and/or giving up ones fourth/fifth amendment rights and consenting to the search.

Until we see bodycam I think any statements made on how much danger the children were in when the police entered the home are pure speculation.
