DOOM

Marty clearly wanted to reconcile their differences and work together in the future and that's not at all what an unreasonable employer would do. If DOOM Eternal's production was so difficult for the soundtrack guy, then imagine how difficult it was for the executive producer. He didn't have time to babysit Mick or address all of his concerns.

I don't think any employer would want to hire Mick after this whole situation. All this article says is that when shit goes down, Mick would rather defend his own ego instead of the project. It's not at all surprising that he decided to start up a new studio with a bunch of Insoymniac and Naughty Dog rejects.
Gordon very clearly lays out the fact that they were using his work without properly paying him, among other things; this isn't just about "babysitting" him. Gordon was constantly getting the runaround, not getting what he needed to do the actual job, then getting last-minute announcements thrown at him without being consulted beforehand on whether or not it was even possible. Stratton hired an expert to do a job, only to literally ignore all of his actual expertise and throw everything into chaos.
Gordon was clearly getting gypped by a studio head resentful of the fact that the composer had gotten a bigger reputation from working on the series than he did.

Yeah I'm not taking the word of someone who said no to a free six figure sum seriously when it comes to improper payment lol.

Are we seriously going to pretend like Gordon didn't pull up a "SORRY GUISE MY COMPUTER BROKE!!" last fucking minute? The article constantly mentions how many reservations Mick had before he was even contracted. Marty would be negligent if he didn't put someone else in charge of his job. Whatever Bethesda told him about deadlines not being important was a lie.

Mick makes music. Marty is a producer. Who's more likely to be acknowledged in this industry? Are you claiming Marty is so stupid that he thinks a fucking executive producer could become a rockstar?

Marty has been in charge since DOOM 3 so obviously he's doing something right. Micky just had to crap out a few audio files and send them in. Instead he chose to voice his concerns at every given opportunity. He also doesn't mention in his little article whether or not he voiced his complaints through text or calls. Could you imagine having to talk to dozens of people all day long and then sitting down attempting to decipher this fag's messages? That's on par with Wings asking Keemstar to moderate a subreddit in terms of entitlement.

You can like his music and still admit it was his fault. I personally found the music of the DOOM reboot to be techno slop (especially when compared to the variety of the original) so I don't have that bias towards Micky.

I never liked the generic metal OST of DOOM anyway. They should have hired the S.O.D. to make the Doom soundtrack instead. Those guys know how to make a brutal murder soundtrack (They also wrote the entire album in an evening on tour while drunk and high out of their minds):
You could replace Sergeant D with the Doom Guy and the lyrics would fit:

That's what's funny to me. All of this drama is happening over a soundtrack that would've been generic metal slop anyway. I played DOOM Eternal with headphones on the whole time and literally didn't notice any difference from the last game. And I had played the last game multiple times by that point. If anything I remember liking the DOOM Eternal score more. The redditors went and attacked Chad Mossholder after the fact, but I thought his mixing made the boring metal tracks a lot more interesting overall.

Y'all can cope and sneed. Chad won. Martin won. Micky's future will revolve around the power who worked on The Last of Us 2 and Spider-Man 2. That's an L if I've ever seen one. Imagine going from working with the industry's most talented people to working with the Hollywood rejects. :story:

Bobby Prince dedicated this song to John Carmack's work ethic.
Bobby Prince: "If everyone at id Software worked as long and hard as John Carmack, id Software would be absolutely untouchable by any competition. Everyone else at id Software would answer this by saying that they have a life outside of developing games! John would answer that he does too, but he'd rather be programming all of the time :) The reason I bring this up is that while I was at id during the development of DOOM, I stayed in the office many, many hours myself (after all, that's where all of my transplanted music toys were located). As a result of long hours at the office, John and I were often there at the same wee hours of the night. John would only leave his office to nab a coke or run to the mens' room -- that is except when he had something special programmed and wanted someone to see it. Those kinds of things happen a lot around John, too. He is always coming up with some cool addition to his engines. Many times in those wee hours, I would come to a point where I couldn't make positive progress toward completing a song or a sound effect. I would go out into the then main room where a pool table sat and just roll the balls around the table. I could look into John's office and he would be sitting there in a world of his own, oblivious to anything else going on. When I worked on this song, I took a break at the pool table and saw John working away. That's when the name of this song hit me".

I have an idea for the next DooM game's plot.

DooM V.

Following on from Final DooM, the DooM Marine has PTSD from all his adventures in Hell. As a result, he blows his fucking head off with the Super-Shotgun. Most of the game is watching emergency responders clean his brains from the StarTan texture walls.

Pre-order to get the weed camo skin for DooMguy's suicide shotgun.

id Software/Bethesda, please consider hiring me for your next game.
Plot twist: the Doom marine blows his brains out... Only to find himself as a soul in Hell.

That could legit be interesting for a Doom game. The Doom guy has gone so insane in eradicating the forces of Hell that he kills himself to be sent there.

Honestly, judging from the description, this sounds like a mix of Doom and Hexen/Heretic. Phil Spencer REALLY likes Hexen, so having the opportunity to combine one of Xbox's few heavy hitters with one of his favorite series sounds like something he'd do.

Doom with more in depth melee mechanics and stuff would be rad. I like where this is going.

Soooo, why can’t this just be a new Quake game?

IP name recognition?
Uh... don't most people associate Quake with the Strogg?

I mean, I wouldn't say no to Quake 5, but...
Let me remind you two that Quake Champions existed seven years ago, but I can't blame you for not remembering it either

I actually hadn't heard of it until now, and reading the Steam page for it I can see why.

Quake: The Hero Shooter is not something anyone was particularly asking for.
