Updates in my playthrough.
The script is definitely closer to the Japanese GameCube.

In chapter 2 when Vivian introduces them, she calls them “ the shadow sisters” like in Japan instead of “shadow beauties” like in the original English. Only now Beldam takes issue with their relation being revealed rather than calling Vivian a tranny, to which Vivian says “but I like being called your sister”

But here’s where I see protest from Nintendo. They’re no longer the Shadie Sirens, just the Three Shadows. Which I choose to take as “they’re not all women, they can’t be sirens “

On another note, I have been switching in and out of the original soundtrack and I’m starting to prefer the new one better, especially for the battle theme. The new horn arrangement really gets me pumped.

For those playing with a mod like me, be warned that the punie AI is bugged in 60, which made that section annoying, but doable without having to turn off the frame rate.

Sweet Treat now drops 2 poison shrooms instead of3, making it easier, the spin jump is much MUCH faster, the cooling at Zest.Y’s is MUCH faster and can be skipped, the paper airplanes move faster, and the fast travel is more convenient.

I’m not gonna lie, so far, if you mod it for 60 fps, this is becoming my favorite version of the game. The original soundtrack badge is also dirt cheap and costs 0 BP which is nice if you want it

I'll probably do new OST for my first run and GCN badge for any future ones. Might as well get some experience with what works and what doesn't.

I'm deeply confused at how you can say it's closer to the Japanese Gamecube, then say this, because it implies you didn't actually read the Japanese.

Three Shadows isn't a protest. It's an extremely dry translation of what the Japanese always said back on the Gamecube: カゲ三人組.

i've backed it up to basedmods.eth.limo just in case it'll get taken down (it will be taken down) but as of writing it hasn't been accepted so it may take some time to appear in the mods list, just in case i'll upload it here as well.

I can see Vivian saying after having something, Vivian is a sister, not a brother.

However, the Nipponese version has an important difference.

In the Japanese version of the scene she says「それにじつはアタイ…体はオトコのコだけどココロはカワイイオンナのコなの」 "I have a boy's body, but the heart of a cute girl." (They also made beldam/majoline's admonishment to her in boggly woods less rude.) In the original version she never said anything about her gender after Boggly Woods; it wasn't ever really touched on, so it's neat that they're updating it to be more sensitive and fleshing her character out a bit after 20 years! I love that in the new version she also specifies she'll answer mario's kindness with "OTOMEGOKORO" (power word).

I'll hold off on playing the remake (on a hacked switch with 60 fps, not encouraging this slop by paying for it) until a full translation comes out, got plenty of other games on my backlog that I'd rather play first.

Does Gamebanana have a history of deleting mods like the Spiderman pride flag mod on Nexusmods? I don't remember hearing about them engaging in censorship back during that debacle.

Those red and green labels are essentally similar to how KF's stickers work if I had to guess, with a lot of the same users tagging every post with the same ones depending on the reaction, including the very first one that I showed off here.

They're one of the sites (along with Nexus and Lover's Lab) that got rid of the Fire Emblem Engage uncensored mod, though they allowed it back after he removed the "romance" between the MC and Anna.

Yes, they are actually worse than nexus mods in most instances. However I have a backup of this Mod(and a lot of mods they remove) so we’re good

Japan never took gender as seriously as these goofballs who live in western environments being taught that their whole identity can just be a gender or sexuality. When cultures can laugh and take the piss out of themselves leave it to these clowns to not being in on the joke because they take themselves too seriously and see everything as a personal attack. It's why they fight so hard for any type of rep no matter if it is earned or not. I've always thought these are extremely shallow peolpe who lack any interesting personality to hold a conversation with people worth anyone's time so another "rep" in the form of Vivian this time just helps them cope for a few more years.

I disagree if only because the original script and idea was to have a fictional Japanese character and they changed it when they brought in Sweet Baby tier consultants. I think they even got Kim Belair in the photo of the team working on the project.

I like the new music they added in at certain points. (i.e. Bowser happening upon "Peach" in Petalberg, the Pianta Godfather bit, etc)

Also the new animations are cute. For example, the theater geek in Rogueport who flips her shit if you bring Madame Flurie with you legitimately looks in awe this time.

My only gripe is that you STILL can't do multiple trouble quests at once....surely this could have been rectified? Or perhaps there's some technical logistics that can't be edited.

Devs are too lazy to rip apart the code. But I think there's probably an two or three quests where you have to talk to the same set of NPCs, which can cause some scripting issues.

But again, the devs are lazy.

I'll never get over people seething and malding because someone uploaded a mod that they aren't required to download.

Might not work out for them, and government subsidies only work up to a point. That point being when we're fucking broke and the government doesn't have any more money to subsidise propaganda i.e. the point at which the Soviet Union collapsed and the point at which we're quickly approaching
